Capcom Nukes Youtuber Over “Spicy” Resident Evil Mods, Forced to Delete 1000+ Videos

Capcom, the developer and publisher behind, Resident Evil has issued a legal threat to UK-based Youtuber GrizzoUK, demanding the removal of over 1000+ videos featuring “adult oriented” or “spicy” costume mods for Resident Evil series. Oddly, Capcom also asked the Youtuber to remove non-Capcom games like Stellar Blade.

GrizzoUK’s YouTube channel has 216K subscribers and focuses heavily on RE mods and gameplay content. Basically, Capcom nuked GrizzoUK’s entire channel. Reportedly, the YouTuber is done with RE for the time being.

At the time of this writing, a ton of “spicy” RE videos are up on YouTube across a plethora of channels. Why Capcom decided to let them slide while nuking GrizzoUK is unclear at this point.

Oddly, the demand extends beyond Capcom titles to include videos of non-Capcom games, such as Stellar Blade, raising questions about the scope of the company’s enforcement efforts.

Capcom went as far as reporting their channel to YouTube, and the video streaming platform terminated GrizzoUK for a short while, in what they described as an apparent error before reinstating the channel.

In a video titled “The End of Resident Evil Mods,” GrizzoUK confirmed he has complied with the request by removing the affected content, though he noted that the disruption severely impacted his channel’s viewership and algorithm performance.

This is not the first time Capcom clashed with the modding community. The company has previously targeted nude or revealing Resident Evil 4 mods. Capcom stated that using unofficial modifications could be mistaken for official content or tarnish its brand.

The problem seems to be “spicy” mods specifically. Because Capcom hasn’t gone after weapon or any quality-of-life mods for the time being. GrizzoUK has reportedly consulted a lawyer regarding possible recourse but has decided to move on. However, he says Capcom has set a “dangerous precedent” here by only targeting him.
