Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Marbled Gohma Boss Fight Guide

Want to Know How to Beat Marbled Gohma in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom? Read on!

Marbled Gohma is technically the first real boss you face in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. You fight Yunobo before Marbled Gohma but Yunobo is more of a tutorial fight and is over within a minute. Marbled Gohma is a real pain in the behind because he throws explosives at you while trying to stomp you into the ground.

In this guide, I will break down all the things you need to know on how to beat Marbled Gohma in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

How to Prepare for Marbled Gohma in Zelda TotK

Marbled Gohma is a giant crab-like creature made of stone. It is huge and its attacks aren’t the only problem. The boss is inside the Fire Temple which is hazardous to Link. You can not fight Marbled Gohma nor can you reach him without having an abundance of Fireproof Elixir at your disposal.

So before you enter the Fire Temple with Yunobo, have at least 5 to 6 Fireproof Elixirs with 11+ minutes of protection each. We have already discussed the best Fireproof Elixir recipe combination but let me break it down for you in this guide as well because it is more than relevant.

You need to gather Fireproof Lizards and Monster Parts. In my experience, the best recipe combination is 4x Fireproof Lizards and 1x Monster Part which gives you 11+ minutes of protection with each bottle you make. So to make 5-6 of these you will 24+ Fireproof Lizards and 5-6 Monsters Parts.

You can use any Monster Part to mix with the Fireproof Lizards such as Moblin Horns, Lizards Tails, etc. Now let’s jump into the boss fight itself.

How to Beat Marbled Gohma in Zelda TotK

The Marbled Gohma has 2 attacks it is first phase.

  • Attack #1: Ground stomp with one of its claws
  • Attack #2: Throw explosive Marbled Stones

The first attack is easily avoided by running to the side while staying at the edge of the battle area at all times. During most of this boss fight you should be running to the side which is the best strategy to avoid all of its attacks in the first phase, stopping only to use Yunobo’s charge attack on its claws.

The claws are the weak point so you must target them with Yunobo and bring the boss down on its knees, making the giant big eye vulnerable. When the boss is down, either use arrows to target or run up to quickly land 4-5 melee hits before jumping off of him. Keep doing this until Marbled Gohma losses 50% of its HP.

In phase #2, Marbled Gohma will stick itself to the roof upside-down like Spiderman. However, this time you only have to worry about one type of attack, and let me tell you, it is deadly and unfair.

Remember those exploding rocks he throws at you? Well, this time he throws them, and the rocks completely surround you with you no way out. So you either heal yourself to the max to barely survive the explosion or immediately start climbing one of the rocks to get out of the trap.

The best way to deal with this is to keep your HP at max all the time and then climb out of the exploding rock trap. As for how to damage Marbled Gohma in this phase, roll out Yunobo but this time aim at side walls because he will roll up to the roof. When Yunobo hits Gohma, it will fall to the ground, giving you the opportunity to attack its eye.
