Fire Temple is found in the Depth map of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Inside the temple, you face the Marbled Gohma but before you can open the main door to the Fire Temple, there are five padlocks you must find unlock. In this guide, I will break down everything you need to know on how to find and unlock all padlocks in the Fire Temple of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
Before we begin, make sure to have at least 30+ minutes of Fire Resistance. You need to make the Fire Resistance elixir by using Fireproof Lizards and Monster Parts. I would recommend having at least 4x Fireproof Lizards and 1x Monster Part to get the maximum duration in each bottle.
In my experience, you’ll need at least 20+ Fireproof Lizards and 5-6 Monster Parts to make enough Fire Resistance Elixir. Once you have enough, you can look for the padlocks without worrying about Fire Damage. Keep in mind that you can fast-travel in and out of the temple at any point if you run out of Fire Resistance elixir.
How to Solve Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Fire Temple Padlock Puzzle
There are five padlocks you need to unlock to open the Fire Temple Entrance that leads to the boss fight. Each is hidden on a different level of the temple.
Padlock #1
From the locked Fire Temple door, turn back and go right toward the Soldier Construct. After taking it down, use the Fire Hydrants to make stone platforms and cross the lava. Use your grab ability to pick up the cart and place it in the tracks.
Get in the cart and hit the Zonai fan to start moving. Yunobo will get on the cart and you can use his Fire Charge to change tracks. When you start moving, you will see a round dial to the left of the tracks. Hit the dial with Fire Charge to change switch tracks.
When the cart comes to a stop, get off and head left where a few enemies await. Take them down and smash through the marble in front to open the pathway to the first padlock. Here’s a video tutorial for the first padlock puzzle and its location:
Padlock #2
The second padlock is on Fire Temple 2F. You can reach it by taking the cart from the first padlock location (where the tracks are) and moving it to the next track. There is marble blocking the tracks so use Yunobo to clear the path before moving. At the end of the next track, you can hit the switch to your left to flip the cart in the other direction. Be ready though! you only have a short window to hit the dial in front to change switch tracks.
If done correctly, you will turn right instead of left (where you can from). At the end of this new track, get off the cart and cross the tiny wooden bridge. Hit the switch to your right to lower the tracks and place a cart on them to reach the second padlock location. Here’s a video tutorial for the second padlock puzzle and its location:
Padlock #3
The third padlock is on Fire Temple 3F and to get to it, I will guide you from the same padlock #1 area. Get on the cart and go toward the end of the tracks but jump off here:
From this platform, use the Ascend ability to reach Fire Temple 3F. Once there, there are two switches in front of you. You need to align the tracks so that the cart moves upward. Get on the cart and stay on until the end of the tracks (you can jump off early if you’d like) to reach the third padlock. Here’s a video tutorial for the third padlock puzzle and its location:
Padlock #4
The fourth padlock requires a bit of ingenuity. Start from Fire Temple 3F, the same location where you popped up with your Ascend ability. Kill the soldier construct if you didn’t the first time and grab the Zonai rockets. Attach them to the cart in front of the broken tracks. Attach one on each side of the cart and blast your way to the other side.
Kill the soldier construct and then start climbing the wall next to the marble formation. There is a room all the way up with a padlock inside. Here’s a video tutorial for the fourth padlock puzzle and its location:
Padlock #5
The final padlock is nothing short of a pain in the ass but I found the best way to get it unlocked. The final padlock is inside the locked room next to the main Fire Temple entrance on the bottom floor. I fashioned a stone platform and attached a Zonai Fire Hydrant to it, used it to get under the room, and then Ascend my way inside. Here’s a video tutorial on how to get to the final padlock:
