Slime Key in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening allows you to open up the Key Cavern Dungeon in the game. In order to find the Slime Key, you need to find Zelda: Link’s Awakening Golden Leaves scattered in the Kanalet Castle.

Zelda: Link’s Awakening Golden Leaves Locations

To start the quest to find the Slime Key and Golden Leaves, you need to complete the Trade Quest to trade the Dog Food for the Bananas. Once done, you need to give these bananas to Kiki the Money at the eastern edge of the castle and you’ll gain access to a bridge.

Once there, you need to speak to Richard to start finding the Gold Leaves. Here are their locations in Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

Gold Leaf #1
You need to kill the Bomber on the right side of the staircase from where you enter to find it.

Gold Leaf #2
You need to head to the staircase and find a bird on the west side. You need to make the bird attack you and then kill it to find it.

Gold Leaf #3
You’ll find three enemies in a room on the west side of the Kanalet Castle. You need to kill all three of them to get it.

Gold Leaf #4
In the Kanalet Castle, you’ll find a room with a couple of weakened walls. You need to have some bombs in your inventory to bomb the left crack in the wall. This will cause an enemy to come out from the wall. Kill this enemy to find it.

Gold Leaf #5
For the final Gold Leaf, you need to head into the last rooms of the Kanalet Castle to find an enemy with a ball and chain. You need to defeat this enemy to find it.

Once you’ve all 5 Gold Leaves, you need to head back to Richard and will ask you to head down to get your rewards. At this point, what you need to do is to travel to the stone owl statue at the top of the area and dig up the Slime Key from the area nearby. The Slime Key should allow you to unlock the Key Dungeon in the game.
