The upcoming Z490 chipset will not support the 9th generation chips. It will support the 10th generation and 11th generation of CPUs. We also know that the chipset will enable PCIe Gen 4 but the 10th generation of CPUs is not going to support this feature. The 11th generation, on the other hand, will be capable of taking advantage of PCIe 4.0.
The 10th generation of desktop chips is around the corner and keeping in mind that these motherboards are going to be announced so soon, you can rest assured that these Intel chips are going to be available pretty soon as well.
We have already spotted plenty of Z490 mobos online and it seems that these motherboards are going to be pretty expensive. The reports and listings could be wrong of course but from the looks of things, the pricing is going to be pretty high. The mid-range and budget motherboards are going to release as well but you will need to wait a while.
Let us know what you think about these Z490 chipset coming and whether or not you are interested in upgrading to the 10th generation of CPUs.
