Wolcen Lords of Mayhem PC is facing errors and issues like DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED, cryinput.dll error, unsupported CPU, save error, crash at launch and more. Here I have compiled a list of errors and issues with the game along with their fixes and workarounds.
Wolcen Crash, Unsupported CPU, And Fixes
Wolcen Lords of Mayhem is the latest addition to Steam Early Access. Due to this fact, this game is facing errors and issues that it shouldn’t be like unsupported CPU detected, crash at launch, DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED, DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_Hung, and more.
The following are the error and issues that players are experiencing with Wolcen Lords of Mayhem along with their fixes and workarounds.
DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED Fix
Players are reporting that when they start playing Wolcen Lords of Mayhem, it crashes shortly after with “DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED” error. This error is usually caused by an overclocked GPU or an older GPU.
However, being a Steam Early Access title, the game itself is buggy. For now, you can fix it by either locking the game to 30 FPS or can revert the GPU to its default clocks if it’s overclocked or factory overclocked using a third-party tool like MSI Afterburner.
To lock the game at 30 FPS, open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings. Select the game from the list and if it’s not there then add it. Scroll down and set Vertical Sync to “Adaptive Half refresh-rate”. Start the game and disable in-game v.sync and display should be set at fullscreen. Note that this will only work if the refresh rate is set to 60 Hz.
cryinput.dll Error Fix
Wolcen Lords of Mayhem players have reported that when they start the game they get cryinput.dll error. Update your DirectX, Visual C++ Redistributables, and Windows OS as it’ll automatically install the missing cryinput.dll. You can also do it manually. Just download the said file from the internet and place it in the game’s install folder.
DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG Fix
This is another error that players are experiencing while playing the game. According to players, the game crashes shortly after starting and pops the “DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG” error.
This can be fixed by making a small tweak to a registry file. Click on the search bar and type “registry Editor” and open it. Then navigate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > GraphicsDriver”. Modify “TdrDelay” and set the value to 0. Restart your system and the error will be resolved.
Unsupported CPU Detected Fix
According to Wolcen players, they are getting “Unsupported CPU detected – CPU needs to support SSE, SSE2+3” error when they start the game. Unfortunately, there is no fix for this error as this is a bug and you’ll have to wait for the devs to roll out a patch that fixes this error.
Save Error Fix
Players are reporting that when they try to exit the game it gives them the save error and doesn’t let them quit. This is probably due to the windows firewall blocking the game’s connection to the server.
To fix this, click on the search bar and type “Windows Defender Firewall With Advanced Security” and open it. Click on “Inbound Rules” and from the right click on “New Role”. Check “program” and hit “Next”. Click on browse then navigate to the game’s folder and add Wolcen Lords of Mayhem exe. Check “allow connection”, hit next and then check all three boxes. Enter name and description and hit finish. Now, click on “Outbound Rules” and from the right click on “New Role”. Follow the same steps as before except for the name. After this, you won’t get the save error.
Missing Exe File Fix
This is another issue with the game. According to players, the game’s exe file isn’t available and reinstalling or verifying files doesn’t solve the problem.
The issue might be your anti-virus software or Windows Defender detecting the game’s exe as the Trojan virus. Either disable your anti-virus or make an exception for the game’s install folder in your anti-virus. Again verify game files and Steam will automatically download the missing exe file.
If that doesn’t fix the issue, go the game’s install folder and then navigate to “steam\win_x64”. Right-click on the exe and click “Run this program as an administrator”. This will fix the error.
Could Not Access CrySystem.dll Fix
This is another error related to your anti-virus or Windows Defender. Either disable your anti-virus or make an exception for the game’s install folder. Verify game files and this Wolcen Lords of Mayhem error will be fixed.
CryEngine Error Invalid Parameters Fix
Players are reporting that they get “CryEngine error invalid parameters in CRT function” error while playing the game. This is an unusual error and there is a potential fix that might fix it.
Open Nvidia Contro Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings. Select the game and set “power management mode” to the max. This will fix the CryEngine Error Invalid Parameters error.
Crash At Launch, Game Not Starting Fix
This is another issue with the game. There are multiple reasons behind this problem and the following are the fixes that might help with the game not launching or crash at launch.
The first fix is quite simple. Open Setting and type “performance” in the search bar and click on “Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows”. Go to Advanced tab > click on Change and check the first checkbox. Apply the change and restart your PC. This will resolve the crash at startup issue with Wolcen Lords of Mayhem.
Another reason for the game to crash at launch might be anti-virus software or Windows Defender blocking the game exe file. Either disable your anti-virus or make an exception for Wolcen Lords of Mayhem’s install folder in your anti-virus software. This will resolve the issue.
Black Screen Fix
Black screen is a common issue with PC video games but not a critical one. Players are reporting that they get a black screen when they start the game while they can hear the audio.
To fix it, start the game and when the black screen appears, press “Alt + Enter”. The game will go into Windowed mode and will start to display.
Low FPS, Stuttering Fix
Performance is often an issue with PC games and Wolcen Lords of Mayhem is facing serious performance issues due to being a Steam Early Access title. Here are the fixes that’ll fix stuttering and low FPS.
Make sure there is no background process that is using too much of your HDD, CPU, or GPU. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings. Select the game from the list and make the following changes.
Set “Power Management Mode” to “Prefer Maximum Performance”
Set “Texture Filtering- Quality” to “High Performance”
Set Vertical Sync to “Fast”
Start the game, disable in-game v.sync and display should be set at “Fullscreen”. This will fix stuttering and general performance issues.
