Rocket Arena is a new game from EA that was first seen during the EA PLAY 2020 event in June. Since the game looks free-to-play, there is some confusion over its monetization model. Will Rocket Arena be free? Or are we going to pay for it upfront?
Rocket Arena will not be free, it is not a free-to-play title. It shouldn’t be surprising considering EA rarely puts on a free-to-play game. Rocket Arena is releasing on July 15 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and EA Origin for PC as well as Steam. Right now Rocket Arena isn’t free but who knows, EA might release a free to play version in the future.
There are two editions of Rocket Arena available to pre-order to PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, Origin, and Steam. The standard edition comes with the game and the Mythic Edition comes with the following items.
- Guardian Phoenix Jayto Mythic Outfit
- Frost Princess Kayi Outfit
- Cyber Sailor Blastbeard Outfit
- Stone Temple Izell Outfit
- Pulsar Megablast Trail
- Fragment Return Trail
- 1000 Rocket Fuel
- Pre-order bonus: Roller Derby Rev Outfit
Rocket Arena is a 3v3 shooter out of EA’s Originals programme. It is a mix of Quake, Overwatch, and Super Smash Bros. Every character in Rocket Arena is equipped with a rocket launcher, jet-pack which is the most important part of getting around. Characters in the game can’t die, taking too many hits would blast you out of the map but you can ride the rocket back in after a short period of time.
