Warzone 2 Dev Error 657 Fixes You Can Try

The occurrence of Dev errors in Call of Duty video games has become quite frequent with the release of Warzone, a battle royale take on the Call of Duty formula. With Call of Duty Warzone 2, players are experiencing Dev Error 657 and the following are the fixes that will help players.

Update the Game

Usually, video games download and install updates automatically but, sometimes updates drop while you are in-game and errors like Dev Error 657 pop up while playing Warzone 2. You can fix it by checking for an update and installing it. Quit Warzone 2 and launch it again, games often check for updates when launched, and Warzone 2 will download and install any pending update.

However, if Warzone 2 doesn’t download the update and Dev Error 657 persists, right-click MW2 or Warzone 2 in the Steam library and click on Update from the drop-down menu, if an update is available. This fixes Dev Error 657 in Warzone 2.

For Battle.net, open the Call of Duty Warzone 2 page and click on the gear icon next to the play button. From the drop-down menu, click on “Check for Updates”. The game will download and install the available update and the Dev Error 657 will be fixed.

Verify Game Files

Often video game files can corrupt or delete for some reason which results in Dev Error 657. This can be fixed by verifying and repairing game files. For Steam users, right-click Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2 in Steam library > Properties > Installed Files > click “Verify integrity of game files”. Steam will scan files and download and replace any corrupt for missing files, fixing the Warzone 2 Dev Error 657.

For Battle.net users, click on the Gear icon next to the Play button, from the drop-down list choose “Scan and Repair”. Wait for the scan to complete and it’ll download missing or corrupt files.

Restore Licenses (PlayStation Fix)

If you are playing Warzeon 2 on PlayStation and experiencing Dev Error 657, then it’s likely that the error is occurring due to PlayStation licenses attached to your PlayStation account. To fix Dev Error 657 on PlayStation, you need to restore licenses. For PlayStation 5 users, open Settings > Users and Accounts >Other > select Restore Licenses.

For PlayStation 4 users, open Settings > Account Management > select Restore Licenses. Launch Warzone 2 and the Dev Error 657 is now fixed.

Update GPU Driver

An outdated GPU driver is another reason why Warzone 2 players are experiencing Dev Error 657. Update or reinstall the GPU driver and ensure that you do a clean installation.

Install Pending Windows Updates

Sometimes, the issue isn’t the game but the operating system. Dev Error 657 can occur if you haven’t updated Windows or have a pending update. Live service games update constantly and their OS requirements might change. Update Windows, if any update is available, and the Warzone 2 Dev Error 6657 will be fixed.

Open Windows Settings > Windows Updates> Check for updates. The OS will download and install any available update. After that, launch the game, and Dev Error 657 is now fixed.
