Valorant Crash, Critical Error, And Fixes
Valorant is a free-to-play multiplayer FPS and has become quite popular since its launch. However, the game is facing errors and issues as PC players are reporting like critical error has occurred and the process must be terminated, Error 43, Client Timeout Error, stuttering, Low FPS, and more.
The following are the errors and issues that PC players are experiencing along with their fixes and workarounds.
A Critical Error Has Occurred Fix
Valorant PC players are reporting that they are unable to play the game as they are experiencing the following error.
A critical error has occurred and the process must be terminated
This particular error is occurring due to your anti-virus/Windows Security. Disable real-time protection from your anti-virus/Windows Security, otherwise, exclude Valorant’s install folder from it.
For Avast anti-virus, go to menu > settings > in general tab click exceptions > add exception > browse > search Valorant folder > tick the box next to folder and press ok > add exception > test by starting training mode. Verify game files and the A critical error has occurred error will be fixed in Valorant.
Error 43 Fix
Some Valorant PC players are reporting that they are facing Erro 43 and can’t play the game. This particular error is probably being caused by your ISP. Use a VPN and Error 43 will be fixed. Follow this link for more details on the fix.
Client Timeout Error Fix
According to Valorant PC players, they are unable to play the game as they get the Client Timeout Error. To fix this, give the game admin rights. Right-click Valorant’s exe > Properties > Compatibility tab > check “Run Thi Program as administrator” and hit apply. Launch Valorant and the “Client Timeout Error” is now fixed.
Error VAL 9 Fix
Error VAL 9 is another one of the Valorant errors that PC players are experiencing. This error can be fixed by deleting the Hard Disk/Program Data /Riot Games/. This will fix the error.
Game Stuck At Loading Screen Fix
Valorant players are reporting that the game gets stuck at the loading screen. To fix the infinite loading issue with the game, go to the Valorant folder > live directory and delete the Manifest txt files. This will fix the infinite loading screen issue.
DX11 Feature Level 10.0 Is Required Fix
Following the December 2020 update, some players are experiencing the “DX11 feature level 10.0 is required to run the engine” error. First, install the latest DirectX file and check if the issue is resolved. If the error persists then your GPU doesn’t support the DirectX version Valorant requires. Make sure your GPU supports DX11 feature level 10.0.
Crash Fix
A lot of Valorant PC players are reporting that Valorant is crashing in-game and here is how to fix it. One reason for the in-game crash could be the third-party tools and software like MSI Afterburner, RGB software, mouse and keyboard software. Disable any third-party software you are using along with Steam overlay and Geforce Experience overlay. This will fix the Valorant in-game crash issue.
The CPU could be the reason why Valorant is crashing. Not much you can do about it but, these tweaks might help. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select Valorant. Set “Ultra” for Low Latency mode and select “off” for Tripple Buffering and hit apply. This will fix the issue.
In case the above fixes didn’t work for you then your GPU is the culprit behind the in-game crash. Either it’s overclocked or the GPU is old. If the GPU is overclocked, revert it back to its default clock speed even if it’s factory overclocked. In case the GPU is old, use MSI Afterburner and start reducing the GPU clock by 50 Mhz. Hopefully, you won’t have to drop the GPU clock more than 200 MHz before stabilizes and stops crashing.
If you don’t want to mess with the GPU clock then Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select Valorant. Turn on “Max FPS Limit” and set the value to 30. This will cap the game at 30 FPS reducing CPU and GPU load. This will fix the game’s crashing issue.
Game Not Starting, Crash At Startup Fix
Valorant crashing at startup is another issue that PC players are experiencing and here is how to fix it.
One reason for the game to crash at launch is the lack of admin rights. Right-click Valorant’s exe > Properties > Compatibility tab > check “Run Thi Program as administrator” and hit apply. This will fix the issue.
Another reason for the game to crash at launch could be your GPU not supporting the DirectX version required. Make sure your GPU supports DX11 feature level 10.0.
Your anti-virus/Windows Security might be blocking important game files and causing Valorant to crash. Either disable the real-time protection or exclude the game’s install folder from it. After that, verify game files and the issue will be fixed.
How To Boost FPS, Stuttering Fix
Performance issues like stuttering and low FPS are common among PC video games and Valorant is no exception. Here is how to fix stuttering and how to boot FPS. First, make sure you have installed the latest GPU driver. Open Task Manager and make sure no background process is using too much CPU, GPU, or HDD.
Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Setting > select “Valorant” and make the following changes.
Anti-aliasing-FXAA – “Off”
Anti-aliasing-Gamma Correction – “Off”
CUDA GPUs – “All”
Low Latency Mode – Ultra.
Set Power Management to “Prefer Maximum Performance”
Shader Cache – “On” only if you are using an HDD. Don’t need to enable it for an SSD.
Set Texture filtering – Quality to “High Performance”
Triple Buffering – “Off”
Set Vertical Sync to “Use the 3D application setting”
Hit apply and this not only fix stuttering but, might also give a boost in performance.
