Rancid Remains in Valheim are upgraded higher-tier Skeletons that can be pretty hard to find. However, they’re an excellent source of Bone Fragments and also drop Rancid Remains Trophy. In this guide, we’ve detailed everything there’s to know about finding Rancid Remains in Valheim, their drops, and strategies to kill them easily.
Valheim Rancid Remains
There are multiple ways of finding Rancid Remains in Valheim. The easiest one is to keep farming the Burial Chamber in the Black Forest. While it isn’t guaranteed to come across a Rancid Remains, items like Bone Fragments, Yellow Mushrooms, Surtling Cores, etc. are reasons enough to farm the Burial Chamber.
Another way to spawning Rancid Remains in the game is to trigger the Skeleton Surprise event. Remember that it can only be triggered after players have defeated Bonemass and a lot of Skeletons. The event, however, only lasts for 120 seconds so make sure to take full advantage of it.
Once defeated, Rancid Remains will drop Bone Fragments and the Rancid Remains Trophy – both of which are highly sought-after items.
Now that we know where to find Rancid Remains in Valheim, let’s talk about dealing with these enemies. These enemies are immune to Poison, are equipped with a Mace, and inflict Poison on every hit. When it comes to their weaknesses, weapons that deal Blunt damage e.g., Stagbreaker, Hammers, Clubs, etc. deal a lot of damage. Remember that they’ve got decent resistance against Pierce damage so try to avoid that.
Lastly, since Poison DoT from them can deal a lot of damage, it doesn’t hurt to bring something like Poison Resist Mead. It can easily be made with a few basic ingredients.
