Crota’s End has returned in Destiny 2 and so has Necrochasm. Unless you acquired it during the Contest Mode, you will need to complete an entire questline to get it. Necrochasm is a 720 RPM Kinetic Auto with the Cursebringer (Intrinsic Trait) that causes the precision kills to trigger a Cursed Thrall explosion — albeit with a laughably small radius. It also has the Desperation (Perk) that increases its RoF, Aim Assist, and Stability for a short while after getting a kill with the Cursebringer — this also triggers on precision final blows. The increase in RoF also makes it 900 RPM like it was in original Destiny. In this guide, we will go over everything you need to know about unlocking Necrochasm in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 Necrochasm Quest

To begin your quest for Necrochasm, you must complete Crota’s End. After defeating Crota, interact with the Sword near the chest. This is where you can buy the Bottomless Pit which is needed to obtain Necrochasm. Here is a brief rundown of all the steps needed to complete it:

Defeat Hive with Husk of the Pit

The first step in the Bottomless Pit is to defeat 100 Hive with the Husk of the Pit. You should be able to complete it in Altar of Sorrow or the beginning of Grasp of Avarice. Once completed, you will receive the Eidolon Ally.

Essence of Oversoul

You must collect 20x Essence of the Oversoul for the next step. You can earn it by completing different encounters (and their associated triumphs) in Crota’s End — Ir Yût can be farmed in about 2-3 minutes if that is your thing.

Necrochasm

After you have collected 20x Essence of the Oversoul, defeat Crota and interact with the Sword near the chest to claim Necrochasm. You will need to complete an entire questline in Crota’s End to earn the Exotic Catalyst but it is not a must-have since it just provides Outlaw.

Necrochasm Tips and Tricks

  • Similar to Osteo Striga, it has synergy with Necrotic Grips.
  • Explosions from Cursebringer deal Arc damage which can trigger things like Arc Siphon, Amplified, Ionic Traces, Death Throes, etc.
  • When it comes to Arc explosions from Cursebringer, it also works with Mantle of Battle Harmony, Eternal Warrior, etc.
