But to truly excel in Last Epoch, you’ll need to unlock mastery – a level of expertise that allows you to push the limits of your character’s abilities and become a force to be reckoned with. This guide will provide you with a step-by-step roadmap on how to unlock mastery in Last Epoch.

How to Unlock Mastery

Even after two years of the game’s release and despite assurances from developers, unlocking mastery classes is unclear. The game does a poor job of explaining how to unlock masteries.

In Last Epoch, you will eventually unlock mastery classes after completing The End of Time main quest. It happens during Chapter 4 of the Last Epoch and then you need to reach the End of Time Hub and then go up the ramp towards the left side of the mini-map where you’ll find a stairs icon. Then, turn left and speak to the Forgotten Knight.

If she doesn’t offer the Power of Mastery quest, you’ll need to talk to Elder Gaspar instead. Once you’ve completed all remaining conversations with Elder Gaspar, return to the Forgotten Knight and speak with her again.

Complete the power of Mastery quest to unlock mastery classes in Last Epoch. But unlocking mastery classes doesn’t mean you’ll be able to access the skill tree.

Spend At Least 20 Points in Base Class

At the beginning of Last Epoch, each character starts with access to the base class passive tree. However, to unlock the Mastery trees, you must first spend 20 points in the base class tree. Once the requirements are met, you need to press the “Unlock Masteries” button to gain access to the Mastery trees.

It’s worth noting that spending more than 20 points in the base class tree won’t level it any further. Therefore, it’s important to plan your skill point allocation carefully and strategically to ensure you unlock the Mastery trees as soon as possible.

With the Mastery trees unlocked, you can access new and powerful abilities that will help them tackle even tougher challenges in the Last Epoch. It will also help you create a much better build.

Can You Change the Mastery Class?

No, you can’t change your mastery class but can respec mastery passives. If you want to play with a different mastery class you’ll need to create a new character and unlock masteries all over again.
