Following a social media post by Uncharted The Lost Legacy creative director Shaun Escagy, the community is buzzing with speculation that Naughty Dog might be working on a remake for Uncharted 1.
Shuan shared an Instagram photo of an old cannon overlooking a coastal cityscape, simply captioned “Research…”. The image, reportedly taken at Fort George in Trinidad and Tobago, quickly caught the attention of fans due to its thematic similarities to the treasure-hunting, fort-filled environments featured throughout the Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

But what adds fuel to the fire is an old concept Uncharted 1 concept art that show Drake hanging around battlements lined with cannons in a fortress settings. The cannons never made it to the final version of the game back in 2007 but due to striking visual parallels between the concept art and the recent social media post, speculation is that we are heading toward a possible remake of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

Rumor has its that Naughty is currently working on multiple single player games, including Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and another project led by Shaun Escagy.
The second theory is that this could be a new IP. Whatever it is, we can only speculate at this point.
Uncharted has been on ice for a decade and while Drake’s story is seemingly over, a remake of his first adventure is exciting to think about.
