CD Projekt Red has been very active in terms of updating The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. It wasn’t a surprise when CDPR updated The Witcher 3 with Ray Tracing and DLSS support. However, the upgrade wasn’t a perfect one as players experienced performance issues and stuttering despite DLSS 3 support. One of the most notable issues with The Witcher 3 Complete Edition was stuttering when DLSS 3 Frame Generation was enabled and here is how to fix it.
The Witcher 3 DLSS 3 Stutter Fix That’ll Help
Performance and stuttering issues are quite common among PC video games and The Witcher 3 Complete Edition is no exception. But it’s quite ironic that DLSS is causing stutters in the game considering the upscaling tech is supposed to boost performance and eliminate stutters. Furthermore, DLSS 3 Frame Generation is supposed to boost FPS regardless of CPU usage.
The fix for the Witcher 3 DLSS 3 stutter isn’t an official one. Recently, CDPR updated Cyberpunk 2077 and fixed stutters for AMD CPUs. To fix the Witcher 3 stuttering, players need to replace the nvngx_dlssg.dll file along with all the game files that start with sl with the same files from Cyberpunk 2077.
To apply the fix, right-click Cyberpunk 2077 in Steam library > Manage > Browse Local Files. A new Explorer Window will open with the game files. Copy the following files.
Once you have copied the files mentioned above, right-click The Witcher 3 in Steam library > Manage > Browse Local Files. A new Explorer Window will open with the game files. Paste the files here and replace the files when the Windows prompt appears. Launch the Witcher 3, enable DLSS 3 frame generation, and the stutters are now fixed.
In case you don’t have Cyberpubk 2077 installed or in your library, you can download the files from here and paste them into The Witcher 3 folder.
