Talking To The Dead (Corpse-Talking) In Baldur’s Gate 3

To talk to the dead in Baldur’s Gate 3 you will need The Amulet of Lost Voices, which you can find in the same room where you meet Withers. This might look like another piece of loot but it lets you talk to corpses. Once you wear it you will be able to talk to the dead and you do not need any social skills.

Use the Amulet of Lost Voices on any valid target each day and after that, any corpse with something to say will be highlighted. This item is not going to conflict with any of your other spells. Interestingly the dead do not hold anything back and if they have something to say they will say it. The amulet is not cursed and you can switch it out for something else at any time.

Do note that if you have the Amulet of Lost Voices on, use it and then remove it it is not going to work until you long rest, even if you have someone else in your party have it on.

What If Corpses Do Not Talk To You?

There are only a few reasons why a corpse would not talk to you. Firstly, it is possible that the corpse has no face and is unable to talk. Furthermore, it is possible that the corpse is mad that you killed it in the first place. You only get a single shot at talking to a corpse but you can reload and try again. If the corpse remembers that you killed it then you can use the disguise self spell to trick it into talking to you. The Disguise Self can use used outside of combat without using a spell slot.
