Stoneshard Fatal Error Fix

Stoneshard PC is facing errors and issues like Fatal Error, no audio, crash at launch, and more. Here I have compiled a list of errors and issues with the game along with their fixes and workarounds.

Stoneshard No Audio, Crash, And Fixes

Stoneshard is an open-world turn-based RPG and currently is in Steam Early Access. The PC version of the game is facing errors like Fatal Error, the game not launching, no sound, stuttering, and more.

The following are the Stoneshard errors along with their fixes and workarounds.

Fatal Error Fix

Being an early access game there are bound to be errors for Stoneshard and players are reporting that they are getting Fatal Error while playing the game. According to players, they are getting the following error.

action number 1
of Other Event: User Defined 1
for object o_console_controller

Fatal error can pop for a multiple of reasons and here are the fixes. The first fix you need to try is to install a different driver version for your GPU. Sometimes a GPU driver isn’t compatible with the game is you have installed the latest driver then roll back to an older version of the driver and Stoneshard Fatal Error will be fixed.

Another reason for the Fatal Error to pop up is the GPU. Either your GPU is overclocked or an old one. If the GPU is overclocked or factory overclocked then revert it back to its default memory clock and clock speed.

If that isn’t the case and your GPU is old then it might be having a hard time rendering the game. You can fix this by locking the game at 30 FPS. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings. Select the game from the drop-down list and if it isn’t there then add it. Then scroll through options and set Vertical Sync to “Adaptive Half-Refresh Rate”. If you have a 60 Hz monitor, the game will be locked at 30 FPS.

We could have used the Frame Rate limiter but, it only allows us to lock the game at 40 FPS. Use that if you want to. If playing Stoneshard at low FPS isn’t an option then use MSI Afterburner to reduce the clock speed of your GPU by 100 Mhz. This is trial and error and eventually, you’ll get to a point where Fatal Error won’t crash Stoneshard.

If the above fixes don’t work for you then you have to wait for a patch as the devs are currently, at the time writing, working to fix the Fatal Error.

Game Not Launching, Crash At Startup Fix

Players are reporting that when they start Stoneshard the game crashes at launch or doesn’t launch at all. There are multiple reasons behind this issue and here are the fixes.

The first fix you need to try is to give the game administrative rights. Right-click on the game’s exe > Properties > “Compatibility” Tab > check “Run this program as administrator”. Apply the change, start the game and the game will start.

If that doesn’t work then there is another fix. Your anti-virus software or Windows Defender might be detecting Stoneshard’s exe as a Trojan. You can either disable your anti-virus or exclude the game’s install folder from your anti-virus software. If you aren’t using any anti-virus then open “Virus & Threat Protection” and select “Manage Settings” under “Virus & Threat Protection settings”. Under “Exclusions” click on “Add or remove exclusions” > “Add an exclusion” > select “Folder” > browse to Stoneshard install folder and add it. Start the game and it should be working fine.

If you are using third-party monitoring software like MSI Afterburner or GeForce Experience then disable them as they might be causing the Stoneshard to crash.

Another reason for Stoneshard to crash at startup or not launch at all might the integrated GPU. Make sure the game is using the dedicated GPU and it will start working. Y0u can just disable the integrated GPU from BIOS.

No Sound Fix

Some players are reporting that they aren’t getting any audio while playing Stoneshard. The reason for this might be “Windows Sonic For Headphones”. Right-click on the audio icon at the bottom-right of the desktop > Speaker setup. If you see a Check mark right next to “Windows Sonic For Headphones” then just click once and it’ll be disabled. Star Stoneshard and it’s sound will be fixed.

Black Screen Fix

Black Screen is a common issue with PC video games and Stoneshard is apparently no exception. Start the game and when the black screen appears, press “Alt + Enter” and the game will go into WIndowed mode and will start to display. Go to video settings and change the resolution that is native to your display and you’ll be able to play the game in fullscreen.

Low FPS, Stuttering Fix

Performance is often an issue with PC games. Stoneshard players are experiencing low FPS and stuttering while playing. These issues are bound to pop up since Stoneshard is in early access.

Here are a few things that will fix the game’s performance. Firstly, make sure you are using the latest driver and there is no background process using too much of your HDD, CPU, or GPU. Use “Task Manager” to check and terminate any process that is using a lot of resources. Just make sure it isn’t a critical OS process.

Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings. Select the game from the list and make the following changes.

Set “Power Management Mode” to “Prefer Maximum Performance”
Set“Texture Filtering- Quality” to “High Performance”.

Apply the changes, start the game and you shouldn’t be getting and FPS drops or stuttering. If you are still experiencing stuttering then follow the steps mentioned above and set “Vertical Sync” to “Fast”. Start the game, disable in-game vertical sync and set the display at Fullscreen.
