Bethesda RPGs are known for a lot of in-game mechanics like having the ability to romance companions and NPCs, choices that alter quest lines, taking companions with you on your quest, and more. Starfield is set in space but it’s no different from other Bethesda titles. Of course, players can take companions with them on their space journey and Bethesda has made no secret of it. In this Starfield guide, we will help players with their companions in the game, their backgrounds, skills, where to find them, and more.

Starfield Companions

Companions play an important role in Bethesda RPGs and Starfield has a lot of them. Each companion has its unique background and backstories, skills, and quests. The following are the companions that players can find in Startfield and accompany them on their intergalactic quests or take them to explore the universe.

Note: There is a difference between Crewmakes and Companions in Startifield. Companions can act as Crewmakes but Crewmates can’t be companions.

Companions

There are a total of 20 companions that players can recruit in Starfield. Bethesda has revealed just a few of them, we’ll update as the game launches. The following is the list of companions that players will be able to recruit in the game.

It can’t be a Bethesda RPG without a Cowboy in it and Starfield has its very own space cowboy in the form of Sam Coe. He is a descendant of the Freestar family who owns the Coe Plaza in Akila City. Sam is an exceptional pilot, which can be useful in space combat. He is also very skillful with rifles and can be helpful in dangerous shootouts with bandits. He is also a member of the Constellation.

Sam Coe has 4 skills but specializes in two of them. He is very good at piloting ships and using rifles. Has a passable skill for Payloads and knows just enough about Geology.

Adoring Fan

Those of you who played the Elder Scrolls Oblivion must remember the annoying Adoring Fan and he has made a return in Starfield as a companion. Those of you who like to hear content praises can take the Adoring Fan with you to explore the universe. However, he isn’t completely useless as he has skills for Scavenging and carrying heavy weight, the latter is useful for storing resources if you don’t have inventory space.

Fortunately, unlike Oblivion the Adoring Fan will only become available as a companion if you choose a specific trait while creating your character in Starfield. This means the Adoring Fan will only follow you if you want it to, which begs the question, what is wrong with you?
