Managing resources in Starfield across multiple outposts can be a daunting task. However, with the introduction of Starfield’s Cargo Links, players can seamlessly connect their outposts, ensuring efficient resource distribution and trade. Whether you’re a seasoned spacefarer or a newcomer to the cosmos, understanding how to set up and use Cargo Links is crucial for a smooth interstellar experience.
Why Establish Cargo Links?
Establishing Cargo Links in Starfield is not just about resource management; it’s about optimizing your gameplay experience. By connecting multiple outposts, players can automate the trade of resources, leading to a more efficient production chain. This not only saves time but also ensures that resources are always available where they’re needed most. Additionally, for achievement hunters, connecting five outposts via Cargo Links unlocks the “Shipping Magnate” Achievement.
How to Create Cargo Links in Starfield
To establish Cargo Links between your outposts in Starfield, follow these steps:
Before you can link them, you need to have at least two outposts. If you’re new to this, there are guides available on building outposts in Starfield.
Once at your outpost, open the building menu. For Xbox users, this is done by pressing LB > X, while PC players should press F > R. Within the building menu, navigate to the “Miscellaneous” category. Here, you’ll find the “Cargo Link” option. To craft one, you’ll need 2 Beryllium, 12 Aluminum, 20 Iron, and 2 Zero Wire. These materials are common and can be sourced from merchants, such as those at Jemison Mercantile in New Atlantis.
Find a suitable location within your outpost and set up the Cargo Link. Remember, every outpost you want to connect needs its own Cargo Link.
Climb the Cargo Link to reach its terminal. Interact with it and select the outpost you want to connect to. A successful connection is confirmed by a green “link” icon. If you encounter issues, like an outpost not appearing for linking, expand by building more outposts with Cargo Links and try again.
After linking, designate the materials you want to trade in the incoming/outgoing container. A spaceship will periodically arrive to handle the resources based on your preferences.
Benefits of Using Cargo Links
- Efficient Resource Management: With Cargo Links, you can ensure that resources are always available where they’re most needed, eliminating the need for manual transfers.
- Automated Trade: The automated spaceship pickups mean you can set your preferences and let the game handle the rest.
- Enhanced Gameplay Experience: By streamlining resource management, players can focus on other aspects of the game, enhancing their overall Starfield experience.
