Star Wars Squadrons is out now and it can be a bit tricky if you are new to this genre of games. Even if you have played dog fight games then the sci-fi element of the game does make it a bit different. That is where this guide comes in. In this Star Wars Squadrons beginners guide, we are going to go over some tips and tricks that you should keep in mind when playing the game.
Star Wars Squadrons Tips And Tricks
The following are the tips and tricks that you should keep in mind when playing Star Wars Squadrons:
Engage Capital Ships With High Shields
You should engage the capital ships with high shields or at high speeds. They can do a ton of damage so engaging them slowly is not something that we recommend. If you do that then you are going to get rekt. For more information, you can check out our guide on how you can divert power to your shields.
Prioritize Your Targets
You need to prioritize your targets in order to lead your team to victory. The targets you pick are going to depend on the situation and the kind of ship that you are using. If you are a bomber then you should focus on ships that do not have a lot of damage and leave the ships that are already engaged by your squad and are about to be destroyed.
Master Power System
The power system allows you to divert power to different systems. You can divert power to shields, weapons and even your booster. You should know when to divert your power to which system. If you need speed then you should divert power to your boosters. If you need more damage, then you can divert power to your weapons. If you are going up against a tougher ship and need more endurance then you can divert power to your shield. You can check out our guide on how you can divert power to the different systems on your ship.
The bonus that you get from overcharging a system is going to stay even when you have diverted power to another system. But it is going to decline over time. If you have diverted power to your shield and have got the bonus for it. You can then divert power to your weapons in order to buff your weapons. The shield bonus is going to stay even though it is going to decline with time.
Timed Obstacle Courses
These are going to help you move around your ship and increase your speed. There are no enemies in this game mode so you do not have the pressure of combat. Good movement skills will give you the upper hand in battle.
Pick The Right Ship
Picking the right ship is going to be key when it comes to winning. At the start of a battle, the interceptor might seem like a no-brainer and that is most likely going to be the case. The bomber is going to be the best option to select if you are going to take on capital ships.
Slowing Down Will Stop You
Unlike other similar games, slowing down for too long is going to bring you to a standstill and you will become an easy target. Unless you are using this as a strategy or tactic of some kind we recommend killing this habit.
Practice Makes Perfect
There is a practice range in the game. Use it to perfect your different moves or try out new ships.
You can turn much faster by hitting the sweet spot on the speed dial. This is the larger square chunk. This can give you an edge in battle as it will help you out-turn the enemy.
Staying Alive Vs Going For The Kill Each Time
The morale mechanic in the game increases each time you kill but it reduced when you die. You need to consider that when you die there is a respawn timer and you also need time to get back into the battle. We recommend trying to stay alive rather than going for the kill each and every time if it means risking getting killed yourself.
Build Morale By Killing AI Enemy Ships
You can build up morale pretty quickly by killing and farming enemy ships. As long as you do not die, you will be able to get that morale high pretty quickly.
Play Your Role
The game has different roles and you will need to play your part. Support is as important as the other roles in the game and is often neglected. This is a team game at the end of the day and you need your team to win in order to win yourself. You should not pick the interceptor if everyone else has picked the interceptor then you should not do the same. Pick maybe a bomber instead.
Prioritize Shield Direction
If you are getting hit from the front then you need front shields. If you are being attacked from the back then you need shields on the backside. We recommend stacking shields at the back as there are high chances that enemies will shoot you from the back.
Learn The Classes
Get ahead of the competition by playing all the classes and learning about their strengths and weaknesses. This will give you the upper hand when in battle.
While getting kills on your own is cool, you can look around you to find enemies that your squad is firing at. Join the assault and take on the enemy as a team to take enemy ships out quickly.
Stay Cool And Calm
Raging and getting killed over and over again is going to feed the other team. This is going to ruin morale.
A Predicatable Target Is A Dead Target
Try to be evasive. If the enemy can predict your next move then you are going to die a lot. Learn some tricks and keep moving in order to become unpredictable.
