Spelunky 2 Items Guide – Uses, Where to Find, Best Items

While on your adventures in Spelunky 2, you’ll often come across a few different types of items. These items have a variety of uses that can come in handy in different situations. In addition to being in levels, items can also be bought from the shopkeepers but it never hurts to have an understanding of what an item does before you invest in it. In this Spelunky 2 guide, we’ve detailed everything you need to know about all the items in the game, their uses, and where to find them.

Where to Find Spelunky 2 Items?

Items in the game can be categorized into weapons, shields, healing items, supplies, tools, and clothing. I’ve yet to come across an item that doesn’t have a decent use. Lastly, do note that you can always help us complete the guide by letting us know if we missed out on an item or more.

With that said, the following is a complete list of all the items that you can find in Spelunky:

Bomb Bag
This will provide you with a total of 3x bombs. You can use these in order to damage enemies, bosses, and even open up undiscovered locations.

Rope Pile
This item will provide you with 3x ropes to access different areas of a level. You can the item from the shops or find them out in the open.

Bomb Box
As opposed to a Bomb Bag, a Bomb Box provides you with a total of 12 bombs to use.

Paste
When combined with bombs, this item allows you to make sticky bombs. These sticky bombs will stick to different things and can be used in a lot of different situations. The paste can drop from the Giant Spider or can be bought from the shops.

Spectacles
This item allows you to turn on wall-hacks. With them, you should be able to look through walls, floors, objects, etc. They can be particularly helpful while trying to find treasures or enemies.

Climbing Gloves
With the Climbing Gloves, you should be able to attach to any wall out there – as simple as that!

Pitcher’s Mitt
This item enhances your throwing abilities. Once equipped, you’ll be able to improve the throwing of things like stones, etc.

Spring Shoes
With these shoes, your jumps will have greater heights, allowing you to access otherwise inaccessible areas.

Spike Shoes
With these shoes on, your stomps will damage enemies. You probably won’t be able to kill them outright but you’ll still do considerable damage.

Compass
The compass is arguably one of the most useful/important items in the game. When equipped, you’ll be notified of where you need to go next. This is particularly useful when you’ve got a ghost chasing after you around and you don’t know where to go next.

Parachute
As the name suggests, Parachute will let you survive lethal falls.

Udjat Eye
While the Spectacles allow you to see through walls, the Udjat Eye will let you find gems scattered all around different levels.

Skeleton Key
This is the only key in Spelunky 2 that doesn’t break after opening a lock. You’ll often find them in different levels.

Royal Jelly
A fairly rare item to come across, Royal Jelly heals you upon being used.

Cape
Another important item that you can use in Spelunky 2. It lets you glide for a short while descending. It can be particularly helpful when it comes to avoiding traps spread in an area. However, remember that you don’t need it if you can manage to tame a Turkey and use it as a mount since it does the same job.

Webgun
You can become the Spider-Man with the item. When shot at an enemy, it will stop them in their tracks.

Shotgun
A highly effective weapon at close-range. The shotgun can literally get rid of any enemy and boss in the game with relative ease. However, do note that the weapon has a lot of kick and will damage you as well.

Freeze Ray
As the name suggests, you can use the gun in order to freeze enemies and turn them into icicles that can be shattered to outright kill them instantly.

Crossbow
A pretty decent ranged weapon that you’ll be using throughout your playthrough of the game. Remember that you’ll often find yourself running out of crossbow bolts so make sure to keep an eye out for them.

Camera
While not a traditional weapon in any sense of the word, you can use it to briefly stun an enemy and even kill the weaker ones. Remember that trying to take a picture of someone like Yang will provoke him to attack you.

Teleporter
An experimental teleporter device that’s still in beta after all these years. It can send you to any randomized location so you’ll need to be careful with this one – you won’t know where you’ll end up. No wonder Geralt hates portals.

Mattock
A pretty handy digging tool that you can use in order to access otherwise inaccessible areas. You should be able to acquire it from different shops and out in the world.

Boomerang
When thrown, the Boomerang will damage an enemy and return to you until the path is somehow blocked off somehow. Always try to keep an eye out on the Tiki Men to have a chance to get the Boomerang.

Machete
It’s high damage dealing weapon in Spelunky 2 which lacks in range but also has utility.

Hou Yi’s Bow
A fairly rare bow that lets you deal poison DoT. In order to acquire it, you’ll need to kill the shopkeeper associated with the Challenge of the Moon.

Wooden Shield
As its name suggests, this item can block a small amount of incoming damage but don’t rely on it too much, especially against bosses.

Metal Shield
This item does everything a Wooden Shield but in a much better way.

Idol
If you’re running out of gold in Spelunky 2, nothing should entice you more than getting your hand on this item. While incredibly hard to come across, you can trade it with a shopkeeper for a decent sum.

Cooked Turkey
Acquired from Dead Turkeys in the game, you can use them in order to heal in the game. Pretty standard!

Four-Leaf Clover
Dropped by Leprechauns, we don’t exactly know how the item works but it’s said to protect the wielder and bring them good fortune.

These are all the items that you can find in Spelunky 2. You can check out our detailed Spelunky 2 wiki guides to learn more about the game.
