Slay The Spire is a blend of a card game and a dungeon crawler and both of these are not easy to master. Luckily this Slay The Spire beginners guide will give you the tips that you need to win. Here is what you need to know about the game if you are just starting off.

Tips And Tricks For Slay The Spire

The following are some useful tips and tricks for Slay the Spire that you should keep in mind if you are new to the game:

Know The Class

The different classes in the game are going to determine how things work out for you. There are three classes The Defect, the Silent, and the Ironclad. All of these classes play very differently and you will soon learn which one you prefer.

If you like playing with brute force then you are going to want to play the Ironclad class. If you want to pull off some magical combos then you should go with the Defect. The Silent class is the middle ground between defense and offense.

Play According To Your Build

At the start of the game, you can be flexible and try out different things but as you progress you will want to narrow down your strategy. Once you have a few cards and relics you need to figure out what your strengths are and play the game accordingly.

If you are playing the Defect class and get cards that are inclined towards Lightning then you should find more cards that compliment that. If you are playing the Silent class and get a couple of poison cards then you should do the same here as well.

By the time you have a few cards and relics, you will know which direction you should be taking for your deck. Keep that in mind and play towards that as your goal.

More Can Be Better But That Is Not Always The Case

You get cards in multiple ways. You get cards after completing each battle. While having more cards might seem like a good thing, that is not true. The more cards you have the lower the chance of getting a specific card that you want. That is why the remove cards button is there.

Remember that build that you had in mind? Remove cards that you think do not go with the build that you want. Also, remove the cards that you are not going to use or rarely use. The skip button is also there every time you are offered something. Some cards might be worth it but remember that you do not want your deck to be too big.

It’s A Marathon Not A Sprint

Slow and steady wins the race and that is indeed the case here. You should think strategically and avoid receiving damage when possible. Instead of healing, you can use the same time to upgrade your cards. Finishing the fight fast is not always going to be the best move for you but this is going to vary from run to run.

Plan Your Route

This might seem obvious but it is something that you need to keep in mind. You can follow the easy path or hit question marks. This can either be really good for you or could be very bad indeed. Plan your path according to what you want to do. Calculate your health and decide which path you are going to take and whether a question mark is going to be worth the gamble. You can always stick to the easier fights and earn some gold.

The first three levels of the game are the easiest. You can use these to build your deck but after that things change. Once you have completed these levels you should avoid paths with standard fights as the rewards are not all that great.

Get Relics Whenever You Can

Relics are the best rewards and you should get them whenever possible. Relics can change the game and help you succeed. Plus they can be stacked as well.

Combine Effects

Ensure that your deck has cards that can be used to combine effects so that cards do not go to waste. There are plenty of ways to increase your energy generation. Like playing cards in a certain order or upping your energy pool. These effects let you play more cards in a single turn and even let you play cards with higher energy costs.

Choose the cards that can have combination effects and use them to your advantage whenever possible. Cards like Flash of Steel or Dropkick are great for combos.

Actions Have Consequences

There is no such thing as a free lunch and that applies to this game as well. Zero energy cards might seem great but they still take up space in your deck which will make it harder to draw more critical cards.

Avoid Shopping Sprees

While gold can get you some really cool stuff, remember that it is in short supply and you should avoid throwing it away early on in the game. Use it only when you really have to.

Connect The Dots

While this is a strategy game, remember that all the enemies that you are going to face have specific attack patterns. If you can learn the encounters then you can easily defeat your enemy.
