RoboCop: Rogue City is the latest game from developer Teyon who previously developed Terminator Resistance. Their latest effort, like the previous one, is very faithful to the source material. However, the game is running on Unreal Engine 5, which is pretty much in its infancy, and like the other UE5 games, it’s facing errors and issues like the DirectX 12 Not Supported error. Aside from that, PC users are also experiencing the Fatal Error and are unable to play the game. In this RoboCop: Rogue City guide, I will list fixes that will help PC users fix the Fatal Error or LowLevelFatalError.
RoboCop: Rogue City Fatal Error Fixes You Can Try
According to PC users, they are experiencing the LowLevelFatalError when they try to play RoboCop: Rogue City. The following is the full error message the PC players see when the game crashes.
LowLevelFatalError [File:F:\RoboCop_MAIN\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Util.cpp] [Line: 873]
CurrentQueue.Fence.D3DFence->GetCompletedValue() failed
at F:\RoboCop_MAIN\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Submission.cpp:939
with error DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED with Reason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG
This Fatal Error or LowLevelFatalError is a GPU and UE5-related error. There seems to be an issue with UE5 in how it communicates with the GPU, which results in RoboCop: Rogue City crashing with a Fatal Error. There are multiple reasons for this error like overclocked GPU or GPU with higher GPU and Memory clocks, unlocked FPS, and more. The following are the fixes that will help PC users fix the RoboCop: Rogue City LowLevelFatalError.
Tweak Registry
One way to fix the RoboCop: Rogue City Fatal Error is to tweak the Windows Registry files. This workaround has a 50/50 success rate but its worth a try. As I mentioned above, LowLevelFatalError is a GPU and UE5-related error.
- Type regedit in Windows search and run it as an administrator
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Control -> GraphicsDrivers
- Right Click in the right panel in the ‘blank space’ and Select New In Windows Registry
- Select DWORD (32-bit) Value and name the file TdrLevel
- Double-click TdrLevel and select Modify
- Confirm that the value is 0
- Restart your PC
- Play RoboCop: Rogue City and the Fatal Error DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error is fixed
Disable Overclock, Enable Debug Mode
Another reason why RoboCop: Rogue City is crashing with the Fatal Error is your overclocked GPU. If you have overclocked your GPU, it’s the reason why the game is crashing with the Fatal Error DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error. Revert the GPU back to its default GPU and Memory clocks and the error will be fixed.
However, most GPUs from third-party AIB partners like Zotac or Gigabyte factory are overclocked or use higher GPU and Memory clocks, which also crashes RoboCop: Rogue City with Fatal Error. Enable the Debug Mode through the Nvidia Control Panel to force the GPU to use Nvidia’s recommended GPU and Memory clocks to fix the LowLevelFatalError. Open the Nvidia Control Panel > Help > Debug Mode.
Tweak Environment Variables
To fix the RoboCop: Rogue City Fatal Error crash, tweak the Windows Environment Variables. The following steps will help you with the fix.
- Open Windows Settings > System > About > click on “Advanced System Settings”
- Click “Environment Variables” under the Advanced tab
- Click on “New” under “System variables”
- Type OPENSSL_ia32cap in the “Variable name”
- Type ~0x200000200000000 in the Variable value
- Press OK
- Ensure “OPENSSL_ia32cap” is present in the list under “System variables” and press OK
- Play RoboCop: Rogue City and the Fatal Error DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error is fixed
Limit Max FPS
Playing RoboCop: Rogue City at an unlocked FPS is causing it to crash with the LowLevelFatalError DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error. The GPU isn’t handling the game’s load well at an uncloaked FPS, limit the max FPS and it’ll reduce the GPU load and fix the Fatal Error. I recommend you limit the FPS through the Nvidia Control Panel because usually, in-game FPS limiters cause bad frame pacing.
- Open the Nvidia Control Panel
- Go to Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings
- Select Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 from the drop-down list
- Scroll down the options and enable “Max Frame Rate” and set a value for it
- Play RoboCop: Rogue City and the Fatal Error is fixed
Note: Unless you are using a Freesync or G.sync display, your Max Frame Limit should be 1/2, 1/3rd, or 1/4th of your monitor’s refresh rate. Otherwise, the game will feel jittery.
Run SFC Scan
Corrupt or damaged system file is another reason why you are experiencing the LowLevelFatalError when launching RoboCop: Rogue City. Run the SFC scan and it’ll find and replace any corrupt or damaged file found. Open CMD and run it as an administrator, type sfc /scannow and press Enter. Let the scan complete, play RoboCop: Rogue City, and the Fatal Error is now fixed.
Troubleshoot Compatibility
There might be compatibility issues with the RoboCop: Rogue City with your PC or Windows. Run the compatibility troubleshooter to sort it out and the Fatal Error will be fixed.
- Right-click RoboCop: Rogue City in the Steam library
- Go to Manage > Browse local files
- A new window will open with the game files
- Right-click the executable
- Select properties and go to the Compatibility tab
- Click “Run compatibility troubleshooter”
- Let Windows do its thing
- Click Try recommended settings and apply them
- Play RoboCop: Rogue City and it won’t crash
