New Game Plus has sort of become a staple in modern games and Resident Evil 4 Remake is no different. Similar to other popular titles, you are required to beat the game once on any difficulty to gain access to the mode after which you can replay the entire game from the beginning with some changes. In this guide, we will walk you through everything you need to know about starting New Game Plus in Resident Evil 4 Remake, changes, and what carries over to the next playthrough.
Resident Evil 4 Remake New Game Plus
Unlocking the NG+ difficulty mode is fairly simple. All that you need to do is to complete the main story on any difficulty. After the credits roll, you will be asked to start a NG+ on the same save file. However, before you do that, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind!
In the section below, we have provided a complete overview of everything that carries over to New Game Plus in RE4 Remake:
What Carries Over in NG+?
Carries Over | Doesn’t Carry Over |
Weapons | Files |
Weapon Upgrades | Key Items |
Items | Requests that are in-progress |
Crafting Recipes | Treasure Maps that are not Completed |
Tokens from Shooting Range | Challenge Run Progress |
Treasures | Treasure Collection |
Clockwork Castellans | |
Completed Requests | |
Health Upgrades | |
Merchant Inventory |
As you can see, there are quite a lot of things that are carried over to NG+. As for things such as Key Items, etc., these are story-related and it does not make sense to have them from the get-go. You will also be able to redo all the Requests if you need to earn some Spinels. Other than this, there are some more changes that you will notice in NG+.
Merchant Availability
As mentioned earlier, merchant in NG+ will have the full inventory that he had at the end of your initial playthrough, making the NG+ a little easier. Moreover, you will also notice that the merchant will first appear near the end of Chapter 1 in NG+ as opposed to Chapter 2 in the first playthrough.
Infinite Rocket Launcher
The best thing about starting a NG+ run in RE4 Remake is the ability to get the Infinite Rocket Launcher. This can be purchased from the merchant for a whopping 2,000,000 Ptas. This is a bonus weapon which is incredibly fun to use but it can only be acquired in NG+.
Those of you who want to Platinum the game, you need to have this weapon for the Gun Fanatic trophy/achievement. In case you are running low on Ptas, we recommend putting on the Leon w/ Rocket Launcher charm at a Typewriter in order to get a discount on it after which it will cost 1,600,000 which is still a lot of money but a little cheaper than full price.
This is all we have got in our Resident Evil 4 Remake NG+ guide. If you have any other questions, be sure to let us know in the comments below!
