One of the activities you can do in your free time is fishing. Fishing in Red Dead Redemption 2 is an easy activity to do. You unlock fishing in Chapter 2 in the mission “A Fisher of Men” of Red Dead Redemption. This guide will include all the details on how to fish in Red Dead Redemption 2 and how to get bait.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Fishing

The mission in Chapter 2 will act as a tutorial mission to fishing in Red Dead Redemption 2. You will learn all sorts of things about fishing. Once the mission is done fishing will be unlocked in RDR2.

You can do fishing after that at any time. Simply go to a lake or a river body and take out your fishing pole by opening the weapon’s wheel and going into the items section and taking it out. After you take out your fishing pole equip a bait by holding L1 and select any bait.

The process of fishing in Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t complicated just press L2 and aim at a point you want to fish and cast using R2.

After a while, you will feel a bite and you will have to press R2 so that you can hook the fish in. The main thing to do here is to tire out the fish so that you can reel it in.

If you see rigorous splashing of water on the water body you shouldn’t reel it in at that time because the rope will be broken. Tire it out and when the splashing of water is getting dulled you can reel it in.

Bait can also be easily found or bought so to say if you short on them. There is a bait shop on the northwest coast of the lake/swamp of Lagras, which can be found north of Saint-Denis. You can buy many types of baits from the shopkeeper here.
