Valheim is a game with survival at its core. There are plenty of ways in which you can die in the game. When that happens you are going to lose any items that you are carrying. That is why it is not recommended that you carry a lot of items on you when exploring. In this Valheim guide, we are going to go over how you can recover items after death.
How To Recover Items After You Die In Valheim
When you die, you will respawn at the respawn point which is either your bed or the starting circle. You will not have any equipment on you when that happens. In order to get your items and equipment back, you will need to go to the place where you died. This will be marked on the map with a skull.
If you die at sea then the same rule is going to apply and your tomb is going to float on the water. If you are killed by an enemy then getting your gear back is going to be tricky as you no longer have your items with you.
What you can do is sneak up to the marker, recover your items and then run away. Once you are out of harm’s way, you can equip your items and then try a go at the enemy if that is what you want to do.
Note that there is a bug that does not create a tombstone when you die. If that happens that you will not be able to recover your items in Vaheim and will need to start from the start.
