Performance issues and errors are quite common among PC video games and Psychonauts 2 is no exception. Psychonauts 2 PC players are reporting that they are experiencing the LowLevelFatalError and here is how to fix it.
Psychonauts 2 LowLevelFatalError Fix
PC players are reporting that they are experiencing a similar error to the following.
LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 675]
hr failed
at
D:/dfp-pn2-r-platform/Common/UE4/Engine/Source/Runtime/D3D12RHI/Private/D3D12Resources.cpp:450 with error DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED with Reason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG
The fix for this particular Psychonauts 2 error is a simple one. The game uses DirectX 12 by default and players have to force the game to use DirectX 11. Right-click Psychonauts 2 in Steam > Properties > type -DX11 under launch option and press OK. This will force Psychonauts 2 to use DirectX 11 and LowLevelFatalError will be fixed.
However, some players are reporting that they are still experiencing the LowLevelFatalError even after forcing the game to use DX11. This might be due to your GPU. Players can either use MSI Afterburner and reduce the GPU clock by 100 MHz or reduce the graphics settings to fix the error. Alternatively, capping the game’s max FPS will also fix the Psychonauts 2 Fatal Error.
Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select Psychonauts 2. Enable “Max FPS Limit” and set the value for it. If you are experiencing the error at 60 FPS, then cap the game to 30 FPS. Or players can do some trial and error to find at which FPS the game stabilizes and stops crashing with the Fatal Error.
