PC video games often face crash to desktop and crash at startup issues and apparently, Psychonauts 2 is no exception. PC players are reporting that the game is crashing while playing and for some, the game is crashing at launch. Here is how to fix Psychonauts 2 crash on PC.

Psychonauts 2 Crash Fix

A number of PC players are reporting crashing issues with Psychonauts 2. Some players are experiencing the crash while playing and some are unable to even start the game as it crashes at launch. The following are the fixes.

Crash Fix

If you are experiencing an in-game crash with the LowLevelFatalError error message, then the game is crashing due to DirectX 12. Right-click Psychonauts 2 in Steam > Properties > type -DX11 and press ok. This will force the game to run DirectX 11 and the game won’t crash anymore.

Another reason for the game to crash while playing is the use of third-party tools and software like MSI Afterburner or RGB Software. Disable any third-party software you have installed along with Steam overlay and GeForce Experience overlay. This will fix the crashing issue with the game.

Crash At Startup Fix

A lot of PC players are reporting that Psychonauts 2 is crashing at launch or not starting at all. For those of you experiencing the “api-ms-win-core-version-l1-1-0.dll is missing” error while launching the game, you are probably using Windows 7. Update your OS and the error will be fixed.

Another reason for the game to crash at launch is your anti-virus/Windows Security blocking game files. Either disable real-time protection or exclude the game’s folder from the anti-virus. I recommend the latter. After that, verify game files, launch the game and it won’t crash at launch.
