The latest hardware sales numbers for the week of March 30, 2026, to April 5, 2026, are out now and they paint a pretty solid picture for PlayStation 5 Digital Edition (cheapest option), despite price hikes. The PlayStation 5 Digital Edition sold 12,141 units during the week, coming in second after Switch 2 that clocked in 59,543 units sold.
However, it seems the price hike affected PS5 and PS5 Pro the most. PS5 base and PS5 Pro sold 840 and 558 units respetively. Total PlayStation 5 hardware sales have surpassed 7.5 million units in Japan while the Switch 2 is currently at 5M. Meanwhile, the entire Xbox family of consoles has sold less than a million units in Japan.
