Outriders is a looter-shooter but it has a decent story and offers a ton of side activities. There are enough side quests in Outriders to help you understand the world better, and get your hands on additional XP, gear, and weapons. Side quests are a great way to earn rare resources as well. In this guide, we will go through all Outriders side quests.

Each side quest has its own unlock requirement and offers unique rewards. Sometimes, great story tidbits are dropped via side missions. In short, they are worth doing and help you level up faster in Outriders.

A Bad Day

Prerequisite: Carnage

How to Complete: Mr. Chang is a merchant who was killed in front of you. His killer failed to kill you and you manage to get information regarding his boss, who is located under the Rift Town slums. Accept the quest from Mr. Chang and go under the Rift Town to find Hounds’ base by following the waypoint. Go through the defenses and confront Barker, the leader of the Hounds. Kill Barker and rescue Eva in the process to get your reward.

Payback

Prerequisite: Carnage

How to Complete: You come across an ECA soldier who saw her squad get wiped by an Insurgent Captain. Speak with the soldier to accept this side quest. She describes the man who sounds similar to the one who forced you to match in No Man’s Land. You can find the Captain in a bunker nearby. Go to the location and fight the hordes of enemies to clear the Ruins. The final enemy you kill will drop the key to the door. Use the key to open the door but make sure to restock before you enter. Go and kill Reiner and his men to complete this side quest in Outriders.

Terra Infirma

Prerequisite: Carnage

How to Complete: Your objective is to save Lieutenant McCain from under the rubble but the area is overrun by Insurgents. Go to the last know location of McCain after accepting the quest from Shira. Kill the enemies in the area to clear a path to the Ruins and climb the Hillside. You will then find out what happened to McCain. Return back to Rift Town to speak with Shira and get your reward.

Endless Dark

Prerequisites: After you get Zahedi’s briefcase in Salvation quest, speak with him at the camp.

How to Complete: According to Zahedi, there are more cryo pods with Outriders in them. Accept the side quest and reach the First City medical labs. Follow the marker and open the door to enter the next section. Search the labs for more information about surviving Outriders (collect two notes in the area). Go to the B2 Facility on the other side of the river, leading to Boglands. Clear the area of enemies and enter the cave. Eliminate the remaining enemies and open the door. Investigate the cryo pods inside to see if there are any Outriders left. After the cutscene ends, take the notes and fast travel back to Zahedi.

No Place Like Home

Prerequisites: After you get Zahedi’s briefcase in Salvation quest, speak with him at the camp.

How to Complete: An old man wants to reach the First City but there are Insurgent presents in the area. Fast travel to Footbridge and clear the path for the old man. Clear the Gallows and get the key from the last enemy you slay to open the door. Head into the next areas and kill the enemies inside, here you will also find Captain Diesel who is harder to take down compared to other enemies. Now clear the remaining enemies to create a path to McKellen’s old home.

Divine Intervention

Prerequisites: Kill Molten Acari in the Inferno main quest and speak with Jocelyn Dunham.

How to Complete: Exit the camp and go to the mountain. Head to the bridge near the fast travel point to enter the next area. Watch the cutscene and then clear the enemies. Go up the stairs and open the gate. Find your way inside the cave and kill all the enemies there. Inside the cave, find the cult leader and his followers and kill them all. Now report back to Captain Dunham to complete this side quest.

The Scientific Method

Prerequisites: When you reach the Antenna Cable Car during the Frequency quest, speak with Zahedi.

How to Complete: An Alchemist is conducting inhumane experiments on the Altered somewhere in Eagle Peaks. Fast travel to Snowy Plateau and go to the bunker with the red door to enter the next area. Go down the stairs to the partially flooded area, clear the enemies and take the key from the final enemy you kill, and obtain the journal. Open the door to enter the next section where enemies will attack as you approach the second floor. Pick up another journal and open the nearby door. Now take another journal entry and open the door at the end of the hallway. Clear the area of enemies as you approach the marker. Kill everything in sight and get the journal. Examine the burned body and report back to Zahedi.

A Free Market

Prerequisites: Complete the Frequency main quest and reach Deadrock Pass. Speak with Alastair Cullen.

How to Complete: Head to the end of the hallway, turn right, and enter the Forestry track. Go to the fast travel point and turn next to reach the next section. Eliminate the enemies at the Lumber Camp, get the key and open the door to the next area. Speak with the person inside the garage and report back to Marshal Cullen.

Nature’s Call

Prerequisites: Complete the Frequency main quest and reach Deadrock Pass. Interact with the radio near the truck.

How to Complete: Head right and open the door to the Forestry track. Follow the market to reach the lumberjack. Take care of all enemies in the area, speak with the lumberjack near the outhouse and turn on the generator. Enemies will swarm the area, kill them all but focus on killing Alpha Perforo and Venomous Perforo first when they appear. Speak with the lumberjack to complete this side quest.

The Outriders’ Legacy

Prerequisites: Complete the Detour main quest and reach the Trench Town. Find and investigate the hanged man near your camp.

How to Complete: Near your camp, you will find a hanged man with a love letter on him. Read the letter and to Lucy to inquire about the Outrider’s hatch. Fast travel to the Wrecking Zone and go inside the cave. Use the red door inside the cave to enter Clearwater Springs. Enemies will attack you so clear them out and clear the rocks as well. Plant the flag to enable fast travel and go west into the next area. Head up the steps and open the door to start the cutscene. Go back to Trench Town and speak with Lucy to get the key.

Head to the Quarry and go up the cliff south of the camp. Clear the logs to get access to Nesting Grounds. Go to the hideout and kill the enemies. Now exit to the hideout and follow the marker to reach a hatch in the ground. Open the hatch and head inside to access the next area. Go through the red door inside the Outriders’ bunker and collect clues.

Fast travel back to the camp and go to the Forest Enclave. Speak with Sergio or Mercer Acosta. Find the remains of Sergio Acosta’s expedition at the outskirts of the Enclave. Clear the enemies and plant a fast travel flag. Go west to reach the next area. Cross the river and clear the enemies. Make your way through the jungle until you reach the camp where you fight some more enemies. Clear the camp and clear the rocks before investigating Acosta’s remains.

Fast travel back to the Enclave and speak with Mercer. Now head to the Quarry and into the bunker. You will fight some enemies along the way. Go through the second door and head down the bunker. Gather all the clues and fast-travel to The Gate. Follow the marker and kill all the enemies as you approach the next area. Investigate the body and get the master key.

Now go back to the Outriders’ Bunker and clear the enemies as you approach. Use the master key to open the third door inside the bunker. Investigate the area and watch the cutscene. Kill all enemies, watch the final cutscene to complete the quest.

A Heart of Gold

Prerequisites: Reach Trench Town main quest after completing Detour main quest. Speak with Greybeard.

How to Complete: Fast travel to the Wreckage Zone and go inside the cave. Enter the red door to reach Clearwater Springs. Kill the enemies inside and go east from the Crevice fast travel point, go through the door. Watch the cutscene and kill all enemies. Go back to Trench Town and speak with Greybeard.

Return Fire

Prerequisites: Speak with Grand Marshal Corrigan during Mentor main quest. Speak with Ujio.

How to Complete: Fast travel to Wreckage Zone and kill the enemies in the ruins. Get the key from the last enemy you kill to open the door. Plant the flag for a fast travel point before going to the next area. Go to the Bunker and kill all enemies. Now go inside the Bunker and get the explosives. Plant the explosives on the artillery. Go back and speak with Ujio.

Dying Wish

Prerequisites: Go to Riverbed at the Quarry after setting up the camp during Expedition main quest. Speak with Jabari Achebe.

How to Complete: Follow the marker to reach Mine and Refinery. Kill all enemies and look for blue wires on the floor to repair the line. Go up the stairs and lift the cargo. Kill all enemies and look for more glowing blue wires to repair the line. Find the final wire north of the second wires. Go back to Jabari at the Riverbed to complete the quest.

Rigging The Game

Prerequisites: Go to the Enclave Cave in Forest Enclave after beating Chrysaloid in the Asylum main quest. Speak with Mercer Acosta.

How to Complete: After speaking with Mercer, follow the marker to find the gambler’s house. It is south of Mercer’s shop. Now return to Mercer to complete the quest.

The Other Ingredient

Prerequisites: After rescuing Zahedi in Judgement main quest, go to The Stronghold and speak with Juno Pascal.

How to Complete: Go to the Whitewater Resovoir fast travel point and locate a blue trunk to reach Tooka Grove. Go through the Swamp and kill all enemies. Face Tooka Beast, use the tree in the middle to block its beam. Go up the small hill and take the tree sap from the tree. Now go to the Grove Clearing to reach the next area. Prepare for another fight in the Grove Clearing. Use one of the cocoons to block the Tooka Beast’s beam. Go back to the camp and speak with Juno.

Life’s Treasure

Prerequisites: After rescuing Zahedi in Judgement main quest, go to Trench Town and speak with Atta Goldstein.

How to Complete: Follow the marker and investigate the Theives’ shelter to find a letter. Fast travel to the Stronghold and reach the Lumber Camp. Examine the body near the fast travel point to get the letter. Go to the Makeshift Crane and kill all enemies. Investigate the body to get the loot. Use the lift to get to the next area. Clear the swamp and examine the body. Kill the enemies and push through the swamp. Now clear the debris and kill the remaining enemies, look for another body and investigate. Go back to the Trench Town and speak with Atta.

Old Power

Prerequisites: After you defeat Bailey in the Relics main quest speak with Zahedi.

How to Complete: Go to Distorted Sculpture and enter the Spire Courtyard Obelisk. Clear the ruins and open the door to the next area. Rid the next area of Kang’s minions, survive the attack and investigate the Obelisk.

Go back to Distorted Sculpture and enter the Hidden Ruins Obelisk. Kill the enemies as you push through the Jungle. Push through the Ruins and clear the rubble. Kill all enemies in the ruins and investigate the second Obelisk.

Now go back to the Distorted Sculpture again and enter the Valley Ruins Obelisk. Again, clear the enemies and investigate the final Obelisk. Head back to Zahedi to complete the quest.

Unknown Presence

Prerequisites: After completing Retaliation main quest go north from the Camp at The Gate and speak with Wanderer.

How to Complete: Follow the marker to Marshland Obelisk. Go to the Marshlands and kill all enemies in the area. Kill the enemies around the Monolith and inspect the Monolith to complete the quest.

Shepherds of Enoch

Prerequisites: After you defeat Yagak, go to the altar near the camp.

How to Complete: Reach the Watermill fast travel point and find the blue door to enter the Utargak Marketplace. Kill all enemies at the marketplace. Follow the marker and investigate the relic to complete the quest.

Big Iron

Prerequisites: Speak with Channa after finding shelter during the Echoes main quest.

How to Complete: Make your way to the Ragged Tents and reach the Dwindling Oasis. Locate the crane that says “Enter Dwindling Oasis” to reach the next area. Kill all enemies and take the weapon part in the caves. Follow the marker and kill all enemies that spawn in the area. Take the weapon part inside the cave near the body. Go inside the Abandoned Village and kill all enemies. Take the weapon part from the village.

Turning Point

Prerequisites: Reach Canyon of the Grand Obelisk during the Sacrifice main quest. Complete Unknown Presence side quest.

How to Complete: Go to the Canyon Overlook and reach the Pillaged Crypts. Activate the keystone to open the railroad in the Ruined Altar. Follow the marker and backtrack to the two paths. Follow the circular arch path that leads to the Ruined Altar.
