The Nvidia RTX 3060 was first released in May 2021, and at launch, it did not catch on, but almost two years later, it is the most popular graphics card according to Steam Charts. Here is what you need to know about the top most popular graphics cards used by PC gamers.
According to the Steam Charts (March 2023), the Nvidia RTX 3060 is the top most popular graphics card amongst Steam users. It has an overall percentage of 10.44%, with an increase of 6.23%. In second place is the RTX 2060, with an average percentage of 7.89 and an increase of 3.14%. In third place, we have the previous most popular 1080p graphics card, the GTX 1060, which has an overall percentage of 7.69 and an increase of 2.58.
While the RTX 40 series graphics cards have already been released, and we expect the RTX 4060 to release in the next couple of weeks, it is interesting to see that people are buying RTX 30 and 20 series graphics cards. The GTX 1060 still remains a very popular graphics card for 1080p gaming, and we can see that in the numbers.
It is interested to see that the top 19 graphics cards are all from Nvidia, and not one of them is from AMD. Furthermore, the chart tells us that 73% OS Steam users are using Windows 10 as their operating system. Windows 10 adoption has increased by 11.62%. More than half of Steam users are using 16GB of RAM, and almost half of them have a CPU with 6 cores.
Additionally, 32.16% of users have a graphics card with 8GB of VRAM, and 64% of users are gaming at 1080p. More than 67% of users have more than 1TB of storage in their system. This is not surprising since you can only fit a couple of AAA games in a 1TB drive in 2023.
