Nvidia has dominated the GPU space for a long time now and even though AMD has brought plenty of competitive graphics cards in the market, Nvidia still has the best performing cards. At the top-end, there is nothing that can compete with Nvidia. AMD cannot compete with the RTX 2080 Ti and we can expect the same for the upcoming next-gen graphics cards. Nvidia CEO talked about the matter and mentioned that Nvidia GPUs offer 2x the efficiency of AMD GPUs.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang mentioned that Nvidia GPUs offer better efficiency and that the company has the better architecture. The following is what he had to say regarding the matter:
There’s a vast difference between our architecture and the second-best architecture and the rest of the architectures. The difference is incredible. We are easily twice the energy efficiency, all the time, irrespective of the number in the transistor side. And so it must be more complicated than that.
It is worth mentioning that the AMD RX 5700 and 5700XT do put up a fight against the RTX 2060 Super and 2070 Super. These graphics cards are not only powerful but efficient when it comes to power consumption as well. Nvidia does have an event in a few days and we will be able to learn more about what the future graphics cards are going to be like and how well they are going to perform as compared to the RTX 2000 series and AMD counterparts.
The Navi x2 graphics cards should put up a fight with the Nvidia RTX 3000 series, at least in the mid-range. I would not be surprised if Nvidia dominates the high-end graphics cards market when the next-generation architectures and graphics cards are released.
