Illumina Orbs are a new addition to New Pokémon Snap. This mysterious object not only affects different Pokémon in the game but also works on plants. When used, this object tends to impart different behavioral changes in Pokémon. This can come in really handy when it comes to taking 4-star photos in Pokémon Snap 2. However, using the Illumina Orbs correctly is the key. In order to use an Illumina Orb, simply press the ‘Y’ button. From what we’ve found so far, when using the Illumina Orbs for the purpose of 4-star photos, it’s best to use them on a nearby Crystalbloom Flower or while the Pokémon is running away – doing it at night or evening works even better.
What this does is that it causes the Pokémon or a Crystalbloom Flower to emit an immense glow which causes all nearby Pokémon to exhibit special behavior which is key to taking 4-star photos in the game. As for Pokémon that react the best when exposed to Illumina Orb, these include Corsola, Machamp, Magikarp, Octillery, Tangrowth, Scorbunny, & Swanna.
