With the release of the new game plus mode for God of War: Ragnarok, additional upgrade levels for the weapons and armor have been introduced. The new cap is now level 10. New resources have also been added to the game, which allows you to max out your gear. The Mountain Root is one such resource that allows you to upgrade your armor to level 10. Note that this resource can only be obtained in new game plus. So you will need to beat the game and then start new game plus in order to access the new armor and resources.

There are a couple of Mountain Roots that you can find in God of War Ragnarok, and the following is a breakdown of where you can get the resource:

  1. Reward for shutting down Modvitnir’s Rig.
  2. Destroy Radvinn’s Rig.
  3. Destroy Althjor’s Rig
  4. Defeat The Everlasting on Dragon’s Beach.
  5. Kill The Hateful.
  6. Kill the Dreki in The Forge area.
  7. Found inside the legendary chest in The Hateful’s room
  8. Found in a legendary chest on your way back after talking to Freya
  9. Found in a legendary chest after your first twilight stone encounter.
  10. Inside the first and third legendary chests in the Temple of Light
  11. Inside the legendary chest on your way out after freeing the Hafgufa from the Hive Matter.
  12. Inside a legendary chest in the Broken Elven Tower on the Northern side of The Barrens.
  13. The reward for completing Treasure Map: Vulture’s Gold
  14. Inside the legendary chest inside the giant dragon skeleton
  15. Reward from Odin’s Raven chests in new game plus
