Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord Character Creation – Builds, Families, Early Life

Mount and Blade 2 character creation

When starting out on Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord the very first thing you do is create your character. The character creation system in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord revolves around choosing your family and culture. In the Mount and Blade 2: Banner Lord Character Creation guide we will give you all the information you need to start off on the right foot.

Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord Character Creation

The character creator is very detailed and deep so kudos to the developers.  In addition to having the option to customizing your character attributes the character creation tool opens you up to various builds from the get-go. Your builds are based on the cultures and families you choose.

We have discussed cultures and their bonuses in a separate guide so follow the link above to see more information. However, we will briefly touch upon some details here.

Cultures

There are 7 cultures in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. Each comes with its own background and characteristics.

  • Vlandians – 20% extra upgrade XP for troops from battles
  • Sturgians – 20% less speed penalty in snow
  • Empire – 20% construction speed bonus for your town projects, wall repairs, and siege engines
  • Aserai – 30% reduction to caravan construction cost, 10% less trade penalty
  • Khuzaits – 10% extra speed bonus for horsemen on the campaign map
  • Battanians – Forests give 10% less speed penalty to parties

Choosing the right culture that suits your gameplay needs is important for two reasons. 1: the buffs and boosts they offer are different so choose wisely. 2: Family options are based on the culture you pick.
