How To Reach Secret Area 17 in Monster Hunter: World Iceborne

Among many things that the Iceborne expansion for MHW brings to the game is a new region called the Hoarfrost Reach. The Hoarfrost Reach region in Monster Hunter: World Iceborne has a secret area called Area 17. It’s a pretty-looking area that holds a handful of surprises and must be visited by the players to unlock the Tailraider Signal skill.

In this MHW: Iceborne Hoarfrost Reach Area 17 Guide, we’ve detailed everything you need to about accessing the secret area in the game.

Monster Hunter: World Iceborne Area 17 Location

To give you a general overview of where you’ll find the location, you need to open up the world map of the Hoarfrost Reach (2nd floor) and check the bottom-left corner of the map – this is where you need to go.

To get to the area, you need to head over to Area 2 and look around the area until you come across a couple of Wingdrakes or Pterowyvern roaming around the area. Wingdrakes and Pterowyvern in the area are crucial to getting you to the destination, therefore, make sure not to kill them.

What you can do is to attack them a little until you see one of them get a little closer to the ground. Try to get in close and hop onto them by pressing Circle/B.

Note: If you can’t get to the monsters, shoot them to make them fly lower and then press O to grab.

The Wingdrake will automatically take you to the Area 17 in Hoarfrost Reach in Monster Hunter: World Iceborne expansion. I should also mention it here that you won’t come across any monsters in the area.

The area has a nice view and a few surprises here and there. If you’re bored of roaming around the area, you can always head to the left side of the area and get back.

This is all you need to know about getting to the secret Area 17 in Hoarfrost Reach in MHW: Iceborne expansion. For more on MHW, be sure to check out our How to Start Iceborne expansion, Master Rank Assignments Guide, and Tailraider Signal Guide.
