Wyvern Riding in Monster Hunter Rise is a newly introduced mechanic that lets players mount a large monster and use it to attack. This is achieved by using a Wirebug. But how does one do it? In this Monster Hunter Rise guide, we’ve detailed everything about Wyvern Riding, its controls, and some useful tips.
Monster Hunter Rise Wyvern Riding
The first thing that players need to know is that a monster can only be mounted after it’s in the “Mountable” state. This can be done through different means. But why should one do it?
By using Wyvern Riding, players are able to use signature attacks of the mounted monster. This can come in handy if the lesser monsters are weak against these attacks. In addition to this, players can also use different types of elemental attacks.
Wyvern Riding Tips
To begin Wyvern Riding a monster in the game, the first thing that needs to be done is to render a monster in the “Mountable” state. After a monster is in this state, it’ll show a “Ride Wyvern” icon on top of it. To render a monster in the “Mountable” state, players can use the strategies shared below:
- Use different Skilbind Skills from a Wirebug
- Let monsters fight one another while waiting patiently
- Use different types of Endemic Life to render a monster “Mountable”
Once a monster is ready for Wyvern Riding, a clock and a meter in the bottom-middle of the screen will show players the time left before a monster can be mounted and the total time for which a monster can be mounted. Once mounted, players will be able to perform a number of different actions such as:
- X – Light Attack
- A – Strong Attack
- B – Emergency Evade
- Y – Launch Monster
- X + A – Mounted Punisher when the Wyvern Riding Gauge is full
