Sony has increased the price of the PS5 by up to 20% in some regions including the UK and Europe. With that in mind, gamers may be interested in knowing if Microsoft is going to do the same with the Xbox Series X and S. Microsoft has confirmed that the price of the Xbox Series X and S is going to remain the same.

Xbox Series X And S Price Remains The Same

Microsoft spokesperson told Windows Central that there are no plans of increasing the price of the Xbox consoles and that the prices will remain the same. The following is what the Microsoft spokesperson had to say regarding the matter:

We are constantly evaluating our business to offer our fans great gaming options. Our Xbox Series S suggested retail price remains at $299 (£250, €300) the Xbox Series X is $499 (£450, €500).

While economic conditions around the world are worsening and it makes sense for a business to increase the price if costs cannot be met, it is interesting to see that Microsoft has not increased prices. At least not yet. Keeping in mind that the Xbox Series X and PS5 share the same market and are affected by the same world economics. It is also interesting to see that Xbox consoles are readily available pretty much everywhere while the supply of the PS5 is still lagging behind.

Talking about supply, Phil Spencer talked about how it would be hard to get a new console this holiday season and he mentioned that it could be hard. The following is what he had to say:

I still think demand will outstrip supply for us this holiday. We’ll see when we get into 2023, we’ll see that supply is starting to catch up with demand. Maybe even see one in the stores when you walk in.

While the price of the PS5 has increased, some fans have reported that the Series S is available at prices lower than MSRP. Which makes it great value for money. I think that the Xbox Series S coupled with Game Pass offers excellent value for money, especially for budget gamers.
