Lord Of The Rings: Gollum is the new upcoming LOTR game but will you be able to see and encounter Sauron in the game? Daedalic has now confirmed that players will not encounter Sauron in Lord Of The Rings: Gollum.
Lead narrative designer Tilman Schanen touched on the matter and while talking about good and evil he mentioned the following:
We’re in a grey zone from the very beginning. So it’s not that important to us if somebody’s good or evil, for our game it’s not that much of a focus. Obviously Sauron is evil, but we don’t really see him in the game.
Gollum has spent a lot of time in Mordor and fans might have been interested in his encounters with Sauron if any. That would have been very interesting. Schanen went on to mention the following:
We’ve had discussions about this within the team and what was important for us was to show, for example, the Haradrim, the eastern people – they fill both sides of the spectrum, with good characters and bad characters. And it’s not like all the slaves within Barad-dûr are white people taken by the Easterlings, because basically everybody in Barad-dûr is a slave to Sauron, even the Orcs.
From what we have heard, Daedalic really knows what it is doing with the game. You can learn more about this upcoming game in our article about how Daedalic does not want to upset fans that have only seen the movies.
It is safe to say that this is going to be a big game for the developer. Not is it out of the point and click niche, it is based in the Lord of the Rings universe, which is a big deal. It will be interesting to see what the developer is going to do with this game and what it is going to be like when it comes out.
