Legends of Runeterra divides cards based on regions. Cards belonging to different regions provide different effects such as CC, high damage spells, etc. As of now, there are 6 regions in Legends of Runeterra and you can combine cards from different regions to build your perfect deck.

Legends of Runeterra Regions

The 6 regions of Legends of Runeterra are based on the lore of the popular League of Legends universe. The following are all the regions in the game and their signature mechanics:

  1. Shadow Isles: Last Breath, Sacrifice and Resurrection
  2. Noxus: Damage allies to gain bonuses and relentless aggression
  3. Piltover & Zaun: Replicate and high damage
  4. Freljord: Frostbite and Mana Ramp
  5. Demacia: AOE Buffs and Barriers
  6. Ionia: Recall and Elusive

You’re automatically assigned a region at the end of the game’s tutorials. Since cards belonging to different regions offer different specialties, it’s always a good idea to go with the one that compliments your playstyle.

How to Level Up Regions to Unlock New Cards?

All the regions in Legends of Runeterra have a level cap of Level 20. As you continue to level up with a region, you’ll gain access to rare champions. To level up a region, all you need to do is to have it active as you play games.

You should also consider tackling the game’s daily quests since completing them will reward you with a lot of XP. But what to do once you’ve fully leveled up a region or want to switch to a different one?

How to Change Regions?

If you want to change your region in Legends of Runeterra for whatever reason, you’re allowed to do so. Follow these simple steps to change your region in the game:

  1. Open “Rewards” from the menu bar on the left side
  2. Select “Change Region”
  3. Choose your desired region from the list
  4. Select “Activate”

Once you’ve changed your region, all your future matches and quest will contribute toward leveling up your newly selected region.
