Iron Harvest APPCRASH, Stuttering, And Fixes

Iron Harvest is a real-time strategy game that has finally come out of the Steam Early Access. After all this time development time, one would assume that the game would be free of errors and issues, but that is not the case. Iron Harvest PC is facing errors and issues like 0xc0000005 Error, Application Load Error 3:0000065432, crash at startup, and more.

The following are the errors and issues with Iron Harvest that players are experiencing along with their fixes and workarounds.

0xc0000005 Error, APPCRASH Fix

Iron Harvest players are reporting that they are experiencing 0xc0000005 error or APPCRASH error and are unable to play the game. This particular error is being caused by your anti-virus/Windows Security.

Either disable the real-time protection of your anti-virus or exclude the game’s install folder from it. After that, verify the game files and the issue will be fixed.

In case disabling the anti-virus or excluding the game files hasn’t fixed the issue, open Command Prompt and run it as administrator. Type “sfc /scannow” and press enter. Let the scan complete and after that, the error 0xc0000005 will be fixed.

Other causes for error 0xc0000005 and APPCRASH error are the use of third-party software like MSI Afterburner. Disable any third-party tool you are using to fix the error.

If the error persists, disable in-game overlays for Steam and GeForce Experience and make sure you are using the latest GPU drivers. This will fix the error 0xc0000005 and APPCRASH error for good.

Game Freezing Fix

According to Iron Harvest players, the game freezes randomly while playing and then crashes to desktop. This is a bug that can be fixed by changing the region to the US or UK for your Windows OS.

Another reason why Iron Harvest might be crashing could be your GPU. The GPU could be old or overclocked. If it’s overclocked, then revert it back to its default clock speed. If the GPU is old, reduce the clock speed by 100 MHz using MSI Afterburner to fix the freezing issue.

If you don’t want to mess with the GPU’s clock speed then, try limiting the max FPS the GPU can render. This will reduce the load on your GPU and will fix the Iron harvest freezing issue.

Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select the game. Turn on “Max FPS Limit” and set the value and then set the max FPS the GPU can render for the game.

This is a bit of trial and error to find at which FPS the game will become stable. I recommend that you lock the game by 30 FPS or 60 FPS to eliminate the trial and error process. This will fix the Iron Harvest freezing issue.

Game Not Launching, Crash At Startup Fix

Iron Harvest Players are reporting that the game crashes at launch or doesn’t start at all. There are multiple reasons behind this and here are the fixes.

The first fix to try is to give the game admin rights. Right-click Iron Harvest’s exe > Properties > Compatibility tab > check “Run This Program As Administrator”. Apply this and the game won’t crash at startup.

Your anti-virus/Windows Security might be blocking important game files. To fix this either disable the real-time protection or exclude the game’s install folder from your anti-virus. After that, verify game files and launch the game.

Another reason why the game might not be launching is that the game is still running in the background after your previous session with Iron Harvest.

This is a bug and can be fixed through the Task Manager by clicking the game’s process and ending it. Restart Steam and the issue will be fixed.

Application Load Error 3:0000065432 Fix

Application Load Error 3:0000065432 is another issue with Iron Harvest that is being caused by the anti-virus/Windows Security. Disable the real-time protection and the Iron Harvest error 3: 0000065432 will be fixed.

This process varies anti-virus to anti-virus but for Windows Security, open Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > click “Manage Settings” under “Virus & Threat Protection settings”. Disable the “Real-Time Protection” and error 3: 0000065432 will be fixed.

If the error persists then the issue might be corrupt Steam files. In this case, players will have to uninstall Steam and reinstall it and the error will be fixed.

Also, if Iron Harvest is not installed in Steam’s folder then move it to Steam’s default install path which is inside Steam’s own folder. This will fix the Iron Harvest Application Load Error 3:0000065432.

How To Get 60 FPS, Stuttering Fix

Players are reporting that Iron Harvest is stuttering for them which is makes it difficult to enjoy the game. First, make sure you have installed the latest GPU drivers.

Launch the game and disable the in-game v.sync and then close the game. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select the game. make the following changes.

Anti-aliasing-FXAA – “Off”
Anti-aliasing-Gamma Correction – “Off”
Anti-aliasing Mode – “Application Controlled”
Anti-aliasing-Transparency – “Off”
CUDA GPUs – “All”
Low Latency Mode – depends on the player.
Max Frame rate – Enable it if you intend to limit FPS. Also, limiting the FPS will reduce GPU Load.
Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA) – “Off”
OpenGL Rendering GPU – “Auto”
Set Power Management to “Prefer Maximum Performance”
Shader Cache – “On” only if you are using an HDD. Don’t need to enable it for an SSD.
Set Texture filtering – Quality to “High Performance”
Triple Buffering – “Off”
Set Vertical Syn to “On”
Virtual Reality Pre-Rendered Frames – “Use 3D Application Settings”.

Apply these changes and the stuttering will be fixed.

  1. What “fixed” Iron Harvest for me was a combination of:

    1. Open windows audio settings and reduce audio quality to CD audio (an old trick but still works like a charm).

    2. Open steam settings and disable the “upload screenshot” function by changing it from f12 to “no key selected”.

I can now reliably play for over an hour without crashes or hanging.
