In-game crashes and errors are common among PC video games and apparently, a card game like Inscryption is no exception. According to PC players, the game is crashing while playing, crashing at startup, or not launching at all. Here is how to fix the Inscryption crash on PC.
Inscryption Crash Fix
Inscryption is not a game that demands a heavy GPU, instead, the requirements are pretty basic. So your hardware causing the game to crash isn’t likely. However, using in-game overlays like Steam in-game overlay or GeForce Experience overlay can cause the game to crash. Open Steam and then open settings > in-game > uncheck “Enable steam overlay while in-game” and press OK. Disable any other in-game overlay you are using and Inscryption will stop crashing.
Using third-party tools and software like MSI Afterburner, RGB software, or Discord can also cause Inscryption to crash. Disable any third-party tool you are using and the in-game crash will be fixed.
Since the game isn’t very demanding, your GPU causing Inscryption to crash is unlikely. However, there is a chance that the game isn’t switching to the dedicated GPU when launched and runs on the integrated GPU. Players just have to make sure that Inscryption runs on the dedicated GPU to fix the in-game crash and here is how to do it.
For Nvidia users, Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Setting > select the game > select “High-performance Nvidia processor” under preferred preferred graphics option.
AMD GPU users, open Radeon Settings > Preferences > Additional Settings > Power > Switchable Graphics Application Settings. Select the game and select the “High-Performance profile” to the game under Graphics Settings. This will fix the GPU lost error.
The above fixes will fix the Inscryption in-game crash issue.
Crash At Startup Fix
Some players are reporting that the game is crashing at launch or not starting at all. Here is how to fix this issue.
Lack of admin rights can cause the game to crash. Right-click Inscryption in Steam > Manage > browse local files. A new window will open with the game’s files. Find Inscryption’s exe and right-click it > Properties > Compatibility tab > check “Run this program as an administrator” and hit apply. This will fix the Inscryption crash launch issue.
Your anti-virus is another possibility behind the game’s crash. It could be blocking important game files and causing the crash at launch issue with the game. Players can either disable real-time protection or exclude the game’s folder from the anti-virus, I recommend the latter. After that, verify game files from Steam and the issue will be fixed.
If the above fixes didn’t work, right-click Inscryption in Steam > Manage > browse local files. Locate the game’s exe and launch the game from it. Chances are, players will get an error similar to “vcruntime140_1.dll or MSVCP140.dll Was Not Found”. Players can fix the error by installing the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables both x64 and x86 versions. This will fix the error and the game will launch.
