One of the key aspects of Age of Empires 4 is the trading post. You can build your own trading post to form trading routes all around the map. Trading posts are a big help when it comes to gathering resources for your civilization. In this guide, we will discuss everything you need to know on how to use Trading Posts.

Age of Empires 4: How to Use Trading Posts

Trading posts are used to increase the number of resources you get from villagers. You can see trading posts marked on the map, especially if you are playing as the French. Usually, the player starts near a Trading Post.

The problem with being able to use trading posts is that you won’t have proper access to them until Age II. You need certain types of units to use trading posts and these units aren’t available until Age II.

When you are able to build a Market you can use them for trading resources as well as to create traders. Now all you need to do is lead those traders to the Trading Post and interact with them.

The Trader will take over and the post will be activated, open for business. The French can change the resources traders will which is not the case with other civilizations.
