Cities: Skylines 2 players are once again greeted by the familiar blue tweeter, Chirper. This social media feed provides real-time insights into how your Cims (the game’s citizens) feel about your city. While some players appreciate the constant updates, others find the incessant chirping and pop-ups distracting, especially when they obstruct city-building tasks. If you’re among those who’d prefer a quieter gaming experience, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to turn Chirper off.
Why Turn Off Chirper?
Chirper serves as the game’s version of X. It constantly updates players with messages about how Cims feel about the city, be it positive or negative feedback. However, these notifications can sometimes interfere with gameplay. For instance, if a notification pops up while you’re trying to place a service building, the building might momentarily disappear. Accidentally clicking on the message might also open a larger window of past chirps. While these interruptions don’t occur frequently, they can be a source of annoyance for some players.
Steps to Turn Off Chirper In Cities Skylines 2
- Open the Main Menu: Click on the gear icon located in the top right corner of the screen or simply press the ESC key.
- Navigate to Settings: Once in the main menu, look for and select the “Settings” option.
- Access the Interface: Within the settings, find and click on the “Interface” tab.
- Disable Chirper Popups: In the middle of the interface settings, under the “Highlight Unlocked” section, you’ll find an option labeled “Chirper Popups”. Simply uncheck this box to disable Chirper notifications.
With these steps completed, you’ll no longer be interrupted by Chirper’s constant updates. However, if you ever change your mind and wish to re-enable the notifications, just revisit the settings menu and check the “Chirper Popups” box.
As of now, there aren’t any Chirper mods available for Cities: Skylines 2 due to the lack of mod support. Paradox Interactive is in the process of developing its own modding platform for the game, which is expected to be released after the game becomes available on Steam.
Benefits of Chirper
While turning off Chirper can lead to a more streamlined gaming experience, there are advantages to keeping it on. The messages from Chirper can alert players to potential issues or deficiencies in their city. However, many players believe there are more efficient ways to monitor and address the needs of their Cims.
