How to Tame Wolves in Valheim

While roaming around the snowy regions of the game, players will often come across wolves – usually in packs. These are fierce creatures that attack quickly and hard. These creatures, however, can be domesticated. In this Valheim guide, we’ve detailed everything there’s to know about how to tame wolves in the game.

How to Tame Wolves in Valheim?

First of all, let’s talk about where players can find wolves. Wolves in Valheim can be found near the mountains. They usually roam around in packs and attack fairly quickly. Therefore, players need to be on their toes when it comes to taming them.

When it comes to taming wild animals in the game, the process involving boars and wolves is pretty similar. Those of you interested in taming a boar can check out our How to Tame Boars guide for more help on the subject. Coming back to taming wolves in the game, the first thing that the players will need is to build a cage. However, since wolves are much stronger and lethal than boars, the cage to keep them needs to be stronger.

In order to build a cage to contain wolves, players need to make sure that they build it using Stakewalls as opposed to Wood Walls. In addition to this, players also need to place a door on the cage so that they’re able to enter and exit without any hassle. Lastly, the cage needs to have a high platform from where the players are able to toss the food – make sure that the wolves aren’t able to climb the platform.

Once all of that is done, players need to find the wolves (they usually roam around in packs) and let the wolves chase after them. Run toward the cage and climb onto the platform, luring the wolves inside the cage. Now all that remains is to stand on top of the platform and continue to throw food (Raw Meat) inside the cage. Similar to boars, players will notice yellow hearts on top of the wolf that’s being tamed.

Continue to offer food until the taming percentage hits 100% after which players will be able to domesticate the animal. Once tamed, players won’t only be able to breed them for resources but wolves also fight alongside the players which can come in real handy in a few situations.

That’s all we’ve got in how to tame wolves in Valheim. For more help on the game, feel free to check out our detailed Valheim wiki guides.
