Taming is a core aspect of Ark: Survival Ascended. These creatures help you carry weight, fight alongside you, and even gather resources. In this guide, we have detailed everything you need to know about taming in Ark: Survival Ascended.
Ark: Survival Ascended Taming
Before we begin, the first thing that you will need to do is to choose a creature that you want to tame. However, it is important to keep realistic expectations. For instance, attempting to tame a T-rex immediately after starting the game will not go well for you.
Once you have selected a creature which you want to tame, the first thing that you will need to do is to render it unconscious. To do it, you will need to use non-lethal force i.e. Tranquilizers, Darts, Slingshot, etc. You simply need to maintain a safe distance while landing your shots until the creature collapses.
Once it collapses, you need to quickly approach it, access its inventory, and put its favorite food in it. After you have done that, you will need to wait until the creature starts to consume the food — if it does, continue the supply. It is also imp. to note that if the creature regains conscious, you will need to render it unconscious once more. Once the taming meter is full, you will have the tamed creature as your trusted sidekick.
Taming Baby Dinosaurs
While roaming around the island, you will come across some Baby Dinos. who can also be tamed. It is exponentially easier to tame these little ones, provided you get a few things right. In order to do that, you will first need to deal with their parents. However, while you are dealing with the big guys, be sure not to harm the little ones accidentally.
Once you have done that, you should easily be able to tame the creature using the method above. Taming, however, is just the first step. You will also need to mature it by giving it food, spending time with it, etc.
