Defense is not just another part of Madden 24. It is a crucial element that can be all the difference-maker between a victory and a loss. And when it comes to Defense in the game, tackling is a huge part of it. Tackling in Madden 24 has been slightly revamped due to new animations and revised player ratings. But it should not be something entirely new for the players who have played the earlier installments. In this guide, we will walk you through the ins and outs of tackling in Madden 24.

Madden 24 Tackle

Tackles in Madden 24 have been further divided into four categories. This basically ensures that you are ready for different situations. Here is a brief rundown of all the different tackles that you can use to intercept plays in Madden 24:

The Wrap

The Wrap tackle is your go-to for bringing down ball carriers securely while minimizing risks. It can put out a lot of work when you are trying to deal with open-field situations. To perform it, you will need to press X on PS5 and A on XSX.

The Dive

As the name suggests, this basically lets your defender unleash the aggressive dive tackle. It is important to note that this tackle can easily cause fumbles if used in the right situation but it is also very risky. If you do not get the timing down, you will leave your defender vulnerable. To perform it, you will need to press Square on PS5 and X on XSX.

The Hit Stick

Another tackle that you can use to cause fumbles. When performed, this one lets your defender deliver a head-on hit. Similar to The Dive tackle, you need to make sure that you do not whiff. To perform it, you will need to flick the right stick upwards.

The Cut Stick

As opposed to The Hit Stick, this one lets your defenders go for the ball carrier’s legs which can result in fumbles. It can be really good in various open-field situations. To perform The Cut Stick, you simply need to flick the right stick downward.

Tackling Tips

Similar to Passing, Tackling is all about timing and positioning. You must make sure that you have a clear shot especially with riskier tackles so that you do not leave your defender vulnerable on the field. Here are some tips that you should keep in mind while tackling in Madden 24:

  • Before launching a tackle, get an idea of your positioning and approach. Use the left analog stick to navigate your defender toward the ball carrier at an angle that cuts off their path.
  • You must also try to initiate your tackle at that precise moment to maximize your chances of success. It is all about the timing, after all!
  • When it comes to tackling, Player Ratings play a huge role. You should be wary of your players’ tackle rating before you decide to go for the more aggressive ones.
