How to Play Sheriff Mod in Among Us
Made by Woodi and shared on GitHub, the sheriff mod for the game can be downloaded from the provided link. Before downloading, please bear in mind that the mod is only available for the Steam version of Among Us – it doesn’t work on mobile. Download the mod to the preferred directory and make sure that the versions of the game and the mod match. The mod won’t work if both the versions are mismatched.
Once downloaded, open up the directory where you’ve installed Among Us. By default, it should look something like Steam/steamapps/common/AmongUs. You need to make a copy of the folder and rename it to whatever you like. Something like ‘Among Us Sheriff Mod’ will help you instantly recognize it.
Once done, paste the contents of the mod into the newly copied folder. From there, simply launch the game using the EXE file. Some FAQs related to the mod are:

- Why do I not publish the source code?
The source code and the modding technique I use allows complex modifications to the game. One way to use my code to create cheats. I do not want to support this and therefore this project is not open source at the moment.
- Can you get banned for playing on public Servers?
At the current state of the game, there is no permaban system for the game. The mod is designed in a way, that it does not send prohibited server requests. You are also able to join your own custom server to be sure.
- How can I join a custom server?
Go to your game directory and open BepInEx/config/org.bepinex.plugins.SheriffMod.txt. There you can set the hostname or IP of the server. Then set the server region to CUSTOM.
- Do my friends need to install the mod to play it together?
Yes. Every player in the game lobby has to install it.
