Not having enough speed to catch the bad guys is a common enough issue for players in Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord, evident even from the beginning of the game. You can find yourself struggling to catch up with any fast-moving foes such as the looters on the open plains, even from the back of a horse. Here we will tell you how to increase world map speed in Mount and Blade 2.

How to Increase World Map Speed

Now the first thing to keep in mind is that the terrain is an extremely important factor in where speed is concerned. Each terrain has either a positive or negative impact on your speed. Another thing that affects it is a player’s Culture choice. Remember that increasing your overall speed and adapting your speed according to the terrain are two entirely different things, so they should not be confused with each other. You can increase the map speed in the following two ways in Mount and Blade 2.

Buying Horses

This is quite an easy way to speed yourself up. However, take care to buy horses and NOT mules to achieve this. You can equip yourself or a companion with mounts, but the same thing cannot be done to units unless horses are required for the upgrade of a unit. If your inventory does have extra horses though, then the troops can use them as transport. This will majorly boost up your speed. Although purchasing horses is a pretty expensive venture, you will find it to be a great investment, as it improves both your traveling and hunting speed.

Scouting is a skill that you will find in the Cunning Tree. You will need to check the character tab and highlight the Scouting skill to use it. If Focus Points are invested in Scouting, abilities can be learned to increase your party’s speed during both day and night. This also brings an additional increase in the bonus that you get by the horses.

These two methods will increase the map speed in Mount and Blade 2. Try them and let us know your experience. If you need more help check out Mount and Blade 2 Wiki.
