Destiny 2: How to Get the Thorn Catalyst?

Share

Thorn is easily one of the most popular Exotic Hand Cannons among Destiny 2 PvP community. It has, however, been overshadowed a little by things like Ace of Spades, Hawkmoon, etc. But this has changed in Season of the Wish due to a newly released Exotic Catalyst that instantly pushes it to being S+ tier. But how do you get it? In this guide, we have detailed everything you need to know about unlocking the Thorn Catalyst in Destiny 2: Season of the Wish.

Destiny 2 Thorn Catalyst

Before we begin, if you do not own Thorn, you need to purchase the Forsaken DLC. This will provide you with x3 Forsaken Ciphers, which you can use to instantly obtain any Exotic from the Forsaken DLC including Thorn from the Monument to Lost Lights in The Tower. However, if you have already exhausted your Forsaken Ciphers, you will need 150,000 Glimmer, x1 Ascendant Shard, and x1 Exotic Cipher.

Ascendant Shard

You can easily obtain it from the Season Pass, farming Nightfalls, or even from Rahool if you have the resources.

Exotic Cipher

You will need to complete the Exotic Cipher questline from Xur to get it. Alternatively, it is also a reward in the Season Pass.

Once you have these items, you should be able to instantly unlock Thorn from the Monument to Lost Lights in The Tower.

How to Get the Catalyst

You will get the Exotic Catalyst for Thorn from Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit. It is entirely based on RNG. We do recommend trying a different activity if you are unable to get it. For instance, I played around 10 Strikes and nothing dropped, played a single round of Gambit, and it dropped.

It is also important to note that it cannot drop from Seasonal Content i.e. The Coil, Riven Lair, Battlegrounds, etc. so do not waste your time if you are chasing it. Once completed, the Thorn Catalyst adds +20 Range and +10 Stability. It also increases Range, Mobility, and Handling after landing a Final Blow or collecting a Remnant.

This immediately pushes it to S+ tier in Crucible, especially for people that can play around Remnants.

This is everything we have on how to get the Thorn Catalyst in Destiny 2. If there is anything else that you would like to add, be sure to let us know in the comments down below!
