After such as long wait and some nasty leaks, The Legends of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is out. It is a massive open world filled with foes, quests, and resources you can gather for your journey. Resources and materials are a key part of gameplay progression but no resource is as important early on as Apples.
This fruit allows you to heal half a heart and in my experience, it is the best way to heal in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. In this guide, I will go through everything you need to know on how to get Apples in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK).
How to Get Apples in Zelda TOTK
Apples are one of the most common materials you can find in the game. To get apples you need to be in an area full of trees. A lot of trees in Zelda carry apples, you can easily spot them hanging from tree branches. To get apples from trees you need to climb up the trees by holding down the jump/climb button (X) near the tree.
Link will then start climbing the tree but you need to press A to pick the apples from the tree. Sometimes apples can be found on the ground next to the trees as well so keep an eye on the ground too. Lastly, to get apples you can crack open clay pots you find in various ruins in Hyrule.
Note: Climbing trees will consume stamina. You won’t be able to climb trees if your stamina is depleted.
Clay pots only require a single swing from your sword but even a tree branch will work. You can get 1-2 apples inside clay pots but not clay pots carry apples.
How to Heal With Apples
As I mentioned above, you can heal yourself with apples in Zelda TOTK. The process is simple enough, open the + button menu and navigate to the Materials sections. Now press A and select “Eat” to heal Link in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
Tip: Cooking apples will boost their healing properties. You can cook apples on bonfires or in cooking pots.
Apart from healing, apples can be used in a variety of recipes for both health and stamina so you’ll be forced to spend a lot of time collecting apples in Zelda TOTK.
